The sum of 222 + 203 by using rounding to compatible number is 420

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Rounding results on integers can be used to estimate or determine the results of a calculation. Estimates can be used as a reference or comparison in determining the truth of the results of a calculation

To rounding integers to the nearest hundreds, look at the tens

1. If the tens are less than 5 (1-4), then the unit number is omitted

Example: 735 ---> 700

2. If the tens are 5 to 9 then the tens are rounded up to 1 hundred

Example: 279 ----> 300

Whereas compatible numbers are the numbers that are easy to add, subtract, multiply, or divide. The value of Compatible numbers will be close to the actual numbers

So We can round the numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, etc. to make them compatible numbers

In the summation operation above we will round out the numbers:

  • 1. number 222

we round the number to the nearest ten become 220

  • 2. number 203

we round the number to the nearest ten become 200

So the sum results become:

220 + 200 = 420

Hundreds and tens are easy to add, so we can round 203 to 200, and 222 to 220.
220+200=420, so
222+203 rounds to about 420

The number of siblings an individual has varies from student to student. The distribution of the number of siblings is strongly
ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

(e) the mean number of siblings for a large number of students has a distribution that is close to Normal.

Step-by-step explanation:

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

By the Central Limit Theorem

The sampling distributions with a large number of students(at least 30) will be approximately normal, so the correct answer is given by option e.

A bag contains 100 marbles which are red, green, and blue. Suppose a student randomly selects a marble without looking, records
ra1l [238]

Answer:

35 red marbles

Step-by-step explanation:

So we can put the different color marbles in a ratio. So 7:2:11. If we add all of those up we get 20. We do 100/20 to get 5. Each number in the ratio is equivalent to 5 marbles. Then we do 7*5 to get 35. We can check our work by doing, (7*5) + (2*5) + (11*5) = 100. And it does equal 100 so the answer is correct.

An airliner carries 150 passengers and has doors with a height of 78 in. Heights of men are normally distributed with a mean of
iogann1982 [59]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x, height of men is N(69, 2.8)

Sample size n =150

Hence sample std dev = \frac{2.8}{\sqrt{150} } =0.229

Hence Z score = \frac{x-69}{0.229}

A) Prob that a random man from 150  can fit without bending

= P(X<78) = P(Z<3.214)=1.0000

B) n =75

Sample std dev = \frac{2.8}{\sqrt{75} } =0.3233

P(X bar <72) = P(Z<9.28) = 1.00

C) Prob of B is more relevent because average male passengers  would be more relevant than a single person

(D) The probability from part (b) is more relevant because it shows the proportion of flights where the mean height of the male passengers will be less than the door height.
