Psychological researchers study genetics in order to better understand the biology that contributes to certain behaviors. The study of biology which contributes to certain behaviors in psychology is known as biological psychology.  

 

EXPLANATION:  

Biological psychology is one of the branches of the modern perspective of psychology. At least, there are seven modern perspectives in psychology, including biological psychology. Biological psychology or biological perspective is a study that looks at how biological basis, especially genetics affects humans’ behavior and how genetics causes damage to specific areas. Biological psychology emphasizes biological and physical bases of behavior.  

Where biological psychology is about the study of how biology influences different behavior on humans, researchers who take on biological perspective see how genetics, nervous system, the immune system, the endocrine systems, and the brain affect humans’ psychologist.  

The implementation of biological psychology to understand humans’ behavior is the existence of MRI and PET. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and PET (Positron Emission Tomography) are able to explore humans’ brain and nervous system. Later, these two technologies let the researchers and scientists look at the human brain under various conditions and examine the effects of brain damage, disease, and drugs on human behavior.
