To convert the point (-2,-6) into point-slope equation of line form, you’ll need to just plug in the values in the standard form which is y-y1=m(x-x1). So in this case, what you will have is y+6=m(x+2). Since there is no value given for the slope, just plug in the value if ever you obtain it.

For this case we have that by definition the equation of the line in point-slope form is given by:

y-yo = m (x-xo)

Where,

m: slope of the line

(xo, yo): point where the line passes

We have then:

(xo, yo) = (-2, -6)

Substituting values:

y - (- 6) = m (x - (- 2))

Rewriting the equation we have:

y + 6 = m (x + 2)

Answer:

An equation that correctly uses point (-2, -6) to write the equation of this line in point-slope form is:

y + 6 = m (x + 2)

At the snack bar, hot dogs cost $4 each and bottled water costs $2 each. In the first business hour of the day, less than $12 wo
lisabon 2012 [21]
<u><em>Answers:</em></u>
(2,1)
(1,3)

<u><em>Explanation:</em></u>
Assume that the number of hot dogs is x and the number of water bottles is y.
<u>We are given that:</u>
1- cost of hot dog is $4
2- cost of water is $2
3- total profit was less than $12

<u>This means that:</u>
4x + 2y < 12

<u>We will check the options that satisfy the above inequality:</u>
<u>Option 1: (-1,5):</u>
This option is rejected as we cannot sell -1 hot dog

<u>Option 2: (0,6):</u>
4x + 2y = 4(0) + 2(6) = 12
12 is not less than 12
This option is incorrect

<u>Option 3: (2,1):</u>
4x + 2y = 4(2) + 2(1) = 8 + 2 = 10
10 is less than 12
This option is correct

<u>Option 4: (1,1.5):</u>
This option is incorrect as we cannot sell 1.5 bottle of water

<u>Option 5: (1,3):</u>
4x + 2y = 4(1) + 2(3) = 4 + 6 = 10
10 is less than 12
This option is correct

<u>Option 6: (2,2):</u>
4x + 2y = 4(2) + 2(2) = 8 + 4 = 12
12 is not less than 12
This option is incorrect

Hope this helps :)

Carrie spent  1 /4  of her allowance on a shirt,  1 /3  of her allowance on a skirt, and $8 on a belt. If she spent $22 in all,
charle [14.2K]

Hi There!

Answer:

$24

Step-by-step explanation:

= 1/4 + 1/3

= 3/12 + 4/12

= 7/12

7/12a + 8 = 22

Subtract 8 to both sides of the equation.

7/12a + 8 - 8 = 22 - 8

Simplify

7/12a = 14

Switch

a = 12/7 * 14

Simplify

a = $24

Hope This Helps :)

A boat takes twice as long to travel 5 km upstream as it does travel 3km downstream in a river that flows at a rate of 2 kph. At
Fittoniya [83]

Answer: 22 kph

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

distance (d) = rate (r) x time (t)

UPSTREAM: d = 5 km,   r = *x - y,  y = 2 kph,   t = 2t

DOWNSTREAM: d = 3 k,  r = *x + y,   y = 2 kph,   t = t

*x is the speed in still water and y is the current of the water.

Upstream equation:       5 = 2t(x - 2)   -->    \dfrac{5}{2(x-2)}=t

Downstream equation:  3 = t(x + 2)     -->    \dfrac{3}{x+2}=t

Set the equations equal to each other to solve for x:

\dfrac{5}{2(x-2)}=\dfrac{3}{x+2}\\\\\\\text{Cross multiply:}\\5(x+2)=3\cdot2(x-2)\\\\\text{Distribute:}\\5x+10=6x-12\\\\\text{Isolate x:}\\10=x-12\\22=x

Is it possible to form a square whose area is 18 by connecting four lattice points? Explain.
Cloud [144]
Note the squares... 13 is possible because it is a sum of two squares (integers) 9 + 4 .. use (0,3) & (2,0) ... get the square roots and place on different coordinate axes... for a simpler value. but there is none for 15... there is one for 18 ... 18 = 3^2 + 3^2 ... try (0,3) ,(3,0) , (3,6), (6,3).
