The forces acting on oil drops are the electric force and the gravitational force , and while the voltage is turned on, the droplet is rising

Further explanation

The oil drop experiment conducted by Millikan aims to find out the electron charge, which is part of the elementary particles of the atom

In this experiment drops of oil are sprayed into the area with an adjustable voltage

This drop of oil enters the hole and enters the space bounded by an electrically charged plate.

The top plate is positively charged while the lower plate is negatively charged

Oil drops absorb negative charge from the X-ray source which emits ionizing radiation

Under certain potential difference conditions, oil drops have equilibrium .

Two forces work on this oil drop

 • 1. An electric force that pushes droplets upwards
 • 2. The gravitational force that pulls oil drops down

When the voltage is turned on (an electric field arises) the oil drops will move upward away from the negative plate, get a repulsive force, whereas if the voltage is turned off (no electric field) the oil drops will fall due to the gravitational force

By adjusting the potential difference between the 2 plates, and indirectly there is an equilibrium of the 2 forces acting on the drops, then the oil drop charge can be determined.

The oil drops charge are obtained from the potential difference and the mass of the drops (obtained from the density of oil and the volume of drops, which it's radius was obtained from a microscope observation)

From this experiment, Milikan discovered an electron charge of 1,602.10⁻¹⁹ coulombs

what is the new pressure acting on a 2.5 l balloon if its original volume was 5.8 l at 3.7 ATM of pressure
Ivan

Answer : The new pressure acting on a 2.5 L balloon is, 8.6 atm.

Explanation :

Boyle's Law : It is defined as the pressure of the gas is inversely proportional to the volume of the gas at constant temperature and number of moles.

P\propto \frac{1}{V}

or,

P_1V_1=P_2V_2

where,

P_1 = initial pressure = 3.7 atm

P_2 = final pressure = ?

V_1 = initial volume = 5.8 L

V_2 = final volume = 2.5 L

Now put all the given values in the above equation, we get:

3.7atm\times 5.8L=P_2\times 2.5L

P_2=8.6atm

Thus, the new pressure acting on a 2.5 L balloon is, 8.6 atm.

A. A nurse practitioner prepares 500. mL of an IV of normal saline solution to be delivered at a rate of 80. mL/h. What is the i
nydimaria [60]
A. Quantity of saline = 500mL
Rate of infusion = 80 mL / h
Infusion time = Quantity / Rate = 500 mL / (80 mL/hr) = 6.25 hr
b. Child weight = 72.6 lb = 32.93 kg
Medrol to be given = 1.5 mg per kg
Quantity of Medrol = 20 mg/mL
Dosage available = 20 mg/mL / 1.5 mg/kg = 13.33 kg/mL
Dosage according to body weight = 32.93 kg / 13.33 kg/mL = 2.47 mL

Morant Bay is 33 km south of Port Antonio a pigeon can fly at a speed of 1.2 m s what is the displacement of morant bay from Por
valkas [14]

Answer:

33km due south

Explanation:

Morant Bay is 33km south of Port Antonio;

 Problem: displacement of Morant bay from Port Antonio;

Displacement is a vector quantity. It is the length of path between two position and the direction inclusive.

So, it has magnitude and must be specified with a direction.

 • Therefore, the displacement of Morant Bay from Port Antonio is 33km due south.

Wine has a pH of 3, which means it is __________ times more acidic than tomatoes, which have a pH of 4.
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer:

10

Explanation:

pH is defined as the negative logarithm of the concentration of hydrogen ions.

Thus,

pH = - log [H⁺]

Thus, from the formula, more the concentration of the hydrogen ions or more the acidic the solution is, the less is the pH value of the solution.

Thus, solution with pH = 3 will be more acidic than solution with pH =4

Thus, concentration of the [H⁺] when pH =3

3 = - log [H⁺]

[H⁺] = 10⁻³ M

For pH = 4, [H⁺] = 10⁻⁴ M

hence, pH = 3 is 10 times more acidic than pH = 4
