Suppose the aquarium's shape is a square prism, with each side of the square having length x, and the aquarium's height is y, so we have:
x^2 * y = 13.5
y = 13.5/(x^2)
The area of each side is xy, and there are four sides, so that totals 4xy
The area of the bottom is x^2
Total surface area:
A = x^2 + 4xy
A = x^2 + 4x(13.5/(x^2))
A = x^2 + 54x^(-1)
dA/dx = 2x - 54x^(-2)
Set the derivative to zero:
2x - 54x^(-2) = 0
2x = 54/(x^2)
2x^3 = 54
x^3 = 54/2
x^3 = 27
x = cbrt(27) = 3, assuming x is a real number
A = 3^2 + 54*3^(-1)
A = 9 + 18
A = 27 square feet

A farmer plows a corn field in the shape of a rectangle that has an area of 15840 square yards if the length of the field is 132
igomit [66]

Answer:

Width= 120

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that L*W= A

So lets put in the variables we know into the equation.

L= 132 yards

A= 15840

132 * W= 15840

All we need to do is divide 15840 by 132

15840/132= 120

W=120

OlgaM077 [116]
By definition the area of a rectangle is:
A = l * w
Where,
l: long
w: width
So we have to clear the width:
w = A / l
Substituting the values:
w = (234) / (18) = 13
w = 13 feets
answer
the width, in feet, of the room is 13

The bookstore marked some notepads down from ???$ 3.00 but still kept the price over ???$ 2.00. It sold all of them. The total a
Anna71 [15]
The answer is 13. To figure this out I used 10 notebooks sold as a guide. I knew the answer could not be 10, because $27.95/10 was not a number stopping in the hundredths place (or a true money amount).

I tried numbers greater than 10 using a trial and error strategy until I got to 13 notebooks sold and found that it $27.95 was divisible by 13 to get an answer between $2 and $3 ($2.15 exactly).

On the first day of a family road trip, Kai's family travels 365 miles.
Gekata [30.6K]
They traveled 292 miles on day two.

Known: On the first day they traveled 365 and on the second they traveled 20% less.

Solution:

If they traveled 20% less on the second day, that means they traveled 80% of the distance they traveled the first day.

365 miles * .8 = 292.

You could also solve this as:
20% of 365 is 73 miles
365 * .2 = 73.
So they traveled 73 less miles on the second day.
365 miles on the first day - 73 miles less on the second day = 292 miles.

I hope this helps!
