Answer: True

Marine habitats are the aquatic ecosystems on earth. They are characterized by saline water, changes in abiotic factors like temperature, sunlight, wind and tides. Open ocean is an example of marine habitat. Open oceans receives maximum of sunlight during day, which is necessary for photosynthesis conducted by phytoplanktons and plants in ocean which produce energy from the food they prepare, this energy is than pass on to zooplanktons and small fishes and further to large sea mammals. The open ocean sustain life of diversity of living beings. Therefore, open ocean is most productive marine habitat.

What portion of the electromagnetic spectrum is most absorbed by the chlorophyll pigments in the thylakoid membr?
vfiekz [6]
Chlorophyll is essential in photosynthesis, allowing plants to absorb energy from light. Chlorophylls absorb light most strongly in the blue portion of the electromagnetic spectrum as well as the red portion. The absorption spectrum of chlorophyll a alone underestimates the effectiveness of certain wavelengths in driving photosynthesis. This is partly because accessory pigments with different absorption spectra are also photosynthetically important in chloroplasts and broaden the spectrum of colors that can be used for photosynthesis.

Which of the following characteristics, structures, or processes is common to both bacteria and viruses? A. Metabolism B. Riboso
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

C. Genetic material composed of nucleic acid

Explanation:

The information needed by every organism to perform life functions like reproduction, growth etc are held in the genetic material that the organism carries in its genome. Every genetic material of organisms is composed of nucleic acids, which are only two in nature i.e. Ribonucleic acid (RNA) and Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). This is a common feature of all organisms including bacteria and viruses that they contain genetic material which must be in form of a nucleic acid.

The viruses do not undergo a cell division, neither do they contain protein synthesis structures called Ribosomes because they do not have the ability to reproduce or perform any living process outside a living host cell. This means that they strictly depend on another organism's transcriptional, translational, replicational ability to survive.

Which statement correctly describes the nuclear envelope of a eukaryotic cell? See Concept 6.3 (Page 102) View Available Hint(s)
netineya [11]

The correct answer is: The nuclear envelope is continuous with the endoplasmic reticulum

The nuclear envelope or nuclear membrane is composed of two phospholipid bilayers (outer and inner) that surround the nucleus in the eukaryotic cell. The space between the outer and inner membranes is called the perinuclear space. The nuclear envelop has nuclear pores that are responsible for the transport between nucleus and cytoplasm (e.g. transport of mRNA).
