At a carnival, food tickets cost $2 each and ride tickets cost $3 each. A total of $1,240 was collected at the carnival. The num

ber of food tickets sold was 10 less than twice the number of ride tickets sold.
The system of equations represents x, the number of food tickets sold, and y, the number of ride tickets sold.

2x + 3y = 1240

x = 2y – 10

How many of each type of ticket were sold?

2(2y-10)+3y=1240
7y-20=1240
7y=1260
y=180
2x+3(180)=1240
2x+540=1240
2x=700
x=350
So they sold 350 food tickets and 180 ride tickets in total.

Answer:

Here, x represents the umber of food tickets sold and y represents the number of ride tickets sold.

Given the system of equations:

2x+3y = 1240         ....[1]

x = 2y-10              ....[2]

Substitute the equation [2] into [1] we have;

2(2y-10)+3y = 1240

Using distributive property,

a \cdot(b+c) = a\cdot b+ a\cdot c

4y-20+3y = 1240

Combine like terms;

7y-20 = 1240

Add 20 to both sides we have;

7y= 1260

Divide both sides by 7 we have;

y = 180

Substitute this in [2] we have;

x = 2(180)-10 = 360-10 = 350

therefore, each type of ticket were sold are:

the number of food tickets sold is, 350 and the number of ride tickets sold is, 180

If Angle 6 is congruent to angle 10 and Angle 5 is congruent to angle 7, which describes all the lines that must be parallel? Li
Nina [5.8K]

Answer:

Third option: Lines "r" and "s" and lines "t" and "u" must be parallel.

Step-by-step explanation:

The missing figure is attached.

You need to remember that:

1- A Transversal is defined as a line that intersects two or more lines.

2- When a transversal cut two parallel lines, several angles are formed, which are grouped in pairs. Some of them are:

a. Vertical angles: are those pairs of angles that share the same vertex and are opposite to each other. These angles are congruent.

b. Corresponding angles: are those pairs of non-adjacent angles located on the same side of the transversal and outside the parallel lines. They are congruent.

In this case, you can identify in the figure that:

\angle 6 and \angle 10 are Corresponding angles.

\angle5 and \angle 7 are Vertical angles.

Therefore, based on the explained before, you can conclude that lines "r" and "s" and lines "t" and "u", must be parallel.

Business services ordered a chair that cost $220.59. Upon arrival they received an invoice for $261.47. If the California sales
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer:

Cost of shipping and handling = $23.453

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Price of Chair=$220.59

Tax=7.9%

Invoice Price=$261.47

In order to find the cost of shipping and handling, we have to subtract the cost of chair and the tax from the invoice price of chair.

To find the tax,

Tax amount=220.59*0.079

=$17.42661

Now,

Cost of shipping and handling=$261.47-$220.59-$17.42661

=$23.453 ..

Jenny is taking a vacation to Florida. She travels 70 kilometers per hour for 2 hours, and 63 kilometers per hour for 5 hours. O
Helga [31]
Jenny traveled 70 km/h over 2 hours and 63 km/h over 5 hours. Her travel time was a total of 7 hours.

We need to find out how far she traveled during this 7-hour period.

70 km/h * 2 h = 140 km
63 km/h * 5 h = 315 km

Then, we can add 140 km and 315 km to get a total distance traveled of 455 km/h.

We were asked to find the average speed. We can find it now, since we have total distance traveled (455 km) and total time taken (7 hours).

Then,
455km / 7h = 65 km/h.

Given that line s is perpendicular to line t, which statements must be true of the two lines? Check all that apply.
artcher [175]
The basis to respond this question are:

1) Perpedicular lines form a 90° angle between them.

2) The product of the slopes of two any perpendicular lines is - 1.

So, from that basic knowledge you can analyze each option:

a.Lines s and t have slopes that are opposite reciprocals.

TRUE. Tha comes the number 2 basic condition for the perpendicular lines.

slope_1 * slope_2 = - 1 => slope_1 = - 1 / slope_2, which is what opposite reciprocals means.

b.Lines s and t have the same slope.

FALSE. We have already stated the the slopes are opposite reciprocals.

c.The product of the slopes of s and t is equal to -1

TRUE: that is one of the basic statements that you need to know and handle.

d.The lines have the same steepness.

FALSE: the slope is a measure of steepness, so they have different steepness.

e.The lines have different y intercepts.

FALSE: the y intercepts may be equal or different. For example y = x + 2 and y = -x + 2 are perpendicular and both have the same y intercept, 2.

f.The lines never intersect.

FALSE: perpendicular lines always intersept (in a 90° angle).

g.The intersection of s and t forms right angle.

TRUE: right angle = 90°.

h.If the slope of s is 6, the slope of t is -6

FALSE. - 6 is not the opposite reciprocal of 6. The opposite reciprocal of 6 is - 1/6.

So, the right choices are a, c and g.
