Let
x---------> <span>quantity (ton) of vegetables sold the first day
</span>y---------> quantity (ton)  of vegetables sold the second day
z---------> quantity (ton) of vegetables sold the third day

we know that
x=y-3---------> equation 1
z=(5/9)*(x+y)------> equation 2
x+y+z=98-----> equation 3
substitute equation 2 in equation 3
x+y+[(5/9)*(x+y)]=98----> multiply by 9----> 9x+9y+5x+5y=882
14x+14y=882-----> equation 4

to resolve the equations system formed by
x=y-3
14x+14y=882

using a graph tool
see the attached figure
the solution is
x=30
y=33
x+y+z=98----> z=98-(x+y)----> z=98-63---> 35

the answer is
vegetables sold the first day----> 30 ton
vegetables sold the second day----> 33 ton
vegetables sold the third day------> 35 ton

Answer:
amount sold on first day = 30 tons
amount sold on second day = 33 tons
amount sold in third day = 35 tons

Explanation:
Assume that the amount of vegetables sold on the second day is x.
We are given that:
Amount of vegetables sold on the first day is 3 tons less that sold on the second day.
This means that:
amount sold on first day = x - 3
Amount of vegetables sold on the third day is 5/9 the amount sold on the first two days.
This means that:
amount sold on third day = (5/9) (x + x - 3)
amount sold on third day = \frac{10}{9} x -  \frac{5}{3}

Now, we know that:
Total amount sold is 98 tons.
This means that:
98 = x - 3 + x + \frac{10}{9} x - \frac{5}{3}

Now, we will solve for x as follows:
98 = \frac{28}{9} x -  \frac{14}{3}

882 = 28x - 42
882 + 42 = 28x
924 = 28x
x = 924/28
x = 33 tons

This means that:
amount sold on first day = x - 3 = 33 - 3 = 30 tons
amount sold on second day = x = 33 tons
amount sold on third day = \frac{10}{9} x - \frac{5}{3} = \frac{10}{9} (33) - \frac{5}{3} = 35 tons

Hope this helps :)

At a red-tag sale, all items with red tags have been marked down by 49%. What should be the sale price of a DVD player having a
vampirchik [111]
Original price was $234.95
49% marked down = $234.95 *49 / 100 = $115.13

So now the sale price = original price - price of 49% marked down

sale price = $234.95 - $115.13 = $119.82

Answer: sale price of a DVD player having a red tag marked down by 49% should be $119.82

A student spends 17/35 of his pocket money on transport and fruits. He spends 5/6 of the remainder on sweets. What fraction of h
Mashutka [201]

Answer: 3/7 is the pocket money he spends on sweets

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the amount student spends be x

He spends 17/35x on transport and fruits

He spends 5/6 (x - 17/35x) on sweets

5/6 * (x -17/35x)

5/6 * 18/35x

= 3/7x

Anna set up a lemonade stand on her block over the summer. She recorded each day’s high temperature and the number of cups of le
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

Residual = -2

The negative residual value indicates that the data point lies below the regression line.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a linear regression model that relates daily high temperature, in degrees Fahrenheit and number of lemonade cups sold.

y = -34+ \frac{3}{5}  x

Where y is the number of cups sold and x is the daily temperature in Fahrenheit.

Residual value:

A residual value basically shows the position of a data point with respect to the regression line.

A residual value of 0 is desired which means that the regression line best fits the data.

The Residual value is calculated by

Residual = Observed value - Predicted value

The predicted value of number of lemonade cups is obtained as

y = -34+ \frac{3}{5} (95)\\\\y = -34+ 3 (19)\\\\y = -34+ 57\\\\y = 23

So the predicted value of number of lemonade cups is 23 and the observed value is 21 so the residual value is

Residual = Observed value - Predicted value

Residual = 21 - 23

Residual = -2

The negative residual value indicates that the data point lies below the regression line.
