Identify the BEST parallel element in this sentence from Douglass' speech
Sergio [31]

d. "not morose, misanthropic, and revengeful, but cheerful, hopeful, and forgiving."

Parallel structure is using the same grammatical structure for elements in a list. This helps with the flow of the sentence and ideas, as well as aids the reader in seeing how the items are similar or different. In this case, the items in both lists are written as adjectives. This allows the reader to see the similarities among the that are grouped together and how the contrast to each other across the conjunction "but". The phrase "two hundred and fifty years" is not part of parallel structure in this sentence.

In the "I’m a Believer" scene at the end of the movie "Shrek," the three blind mice are turned into the horses in one frame, but
eduard

a contingency break; inattentional blindness

This scene is an example of a contingency break. A contingency break is when, in a piece of media (usually children movies or TV shows) a scene occurs that is immediately retconned in the next scene. A common example of this is in children's cartoons, when a character may have gotten their clothes dirty in one scene, but they are back to normal in the next with no time for them to have been cleaned. This applies to the movie Shrek, as the three blind mice are turned into horses in one frame, but are back to the status quo in the next.

Inattentional blindness is the failure to notice a fully visible, but unexpected, object/action because one's attention was on another object/action. A contingency break can be considered a "real-life" example of inattentional blindness because, if this scene occurred in real-life, you would not notice the mice turning back to normal as your attention was not focused on them.

Which details from the text best support the author’s purpose? Check all that apply.
son4ous [18]

Answer:

The details from the text that best support the author’s purpose are:

3. Old German tales once held communities together

4. Older stories often expressed the essence of Volk culture

5. Epics and other tales were linguistic and based in history.

Explanation:

The Brothers Grimm found a method for collecting and recording folk stories. This led to the beginning of folklore studies.

The main idea of this excerpt is the fact that the Grimm Brothers believed firmly that natural forms of culture are linguistic, and they are based on history. This is also mentioned in Option 5, so it is pone of the correct options. Therefore, they saved the fairy tale.

Option 3 states that Old German epics are pure forms and held communities together. Option 4 expresses the essence of Volk culture.

blagie [28]

The "Pike County Dialect" and its variations, is the language in which Huck and most of the important characters to the plot, (like his father, like Tom and Jim, Aunt Polly, Judith Loftus) expressed themself. The function of this dialect is to give us the reality of a marginalized and impoverished entity that is palpable throughout the entire book, the author gives this dialect a leading role that is seeks to give us that realism necessary to understand the concept, that happen along to the Mississippi River, and brings us closer to details of southern society, such as racism and the superstition of the slaves in that time, Jim is a fugitive slave who flees seeking his freedom, and Huck captured by his evil father, who takes him to live in a hut down river, there Huck remains captive, but manages to escape in a raft they find each other and the two undertake a dangerous journey and live many adventures together.
