Total number of tables in the cafeteria = 20

65% of the tables = \frac{65}{100} (20)

=\frac{13}{20}(20)

= 13

Each table has 6 chairs.

So, total number of chairs that 65% of the tables have = 13 × 6 = 78.

35% of the tables = \frac{35}{100} (20)

=\frac{7}{20} (20)

= 7

Each table has 4 chairs.

So, total number of chairs that the remaining 35% of the tables have = 7 × 4 = 28.

Hence, total number of chairs in the hospital cafeteria = 78 + 28 = 106.

"An ordinance requiring that a smoke detector be installed in all previously constructed houses has been in effect in a particul
Galina-37 [17]

Answer:

a) Probability that the claim is rejected when the actual value of p is 0.8 = P(X ≤ 15) = 0.0173

b) Probability of not rejecting the claim when p = 0.7, P(X > 15) = 0.8106

when p = 0.6, P(X > 15) = 0.4246

c) Check Explanation

The error probabilities are evidently lower when 15 is replaced with 14 in the calculations.

Step-by-step explanation:

p is the true proportion of houses with smoke detectors and p = 0.80

The claim that 80% of houses have smoke detectors is rejected if in a sample of 25 houses, not more than 15 houses have smoke detectors.

If X is the number of homes with detectors among the 25 sampled

a) Probability that the claim is rejected when the actual value of p is 0.8 = P(X ≤ 15)

This is a binomial distribution problem

A binomial experiment is one in which the probability of success doesn't change with every run or number of trials (probability that each house has a detector is 0.80)

It usually consists of a number of runs/trials with only two possible outcomes, a success or a failure (we are sampling 25 houses with each of them either having or not having a detector)

The outcome of each trial/run of a binomial experiment is independent of one another.

Binomial distribution function is represented by

P(X = x) = ⁿCₓ pˣ qⁿ⁻ˣ

n = total number of sample spaces = 25 houses sampled

x = Number of successes required = less than or equal to 15

p = probability of success = probability that a house has smoke detectors = 0.80

q = probability of failure = probability that a house does NOT have smoke detectors = 1 - p = 1 - 0.80 = 0.20

P(X ≤ 15) = Sum of probabilities from P(X = 0) to P(X = 15) = 0.01733186954 = 0.01733

b) Probability of not rejecting the claim when p= 0.7 when p= 0.6

For us not to reject the claim, we need more than 15 houses with detectors, hence, th is probability = P(X > 15), but p = 0.7 and 0.6 respectively for this question.

n = total number of sample spaces = 25 houses sampled

x = Number of successes required = more than 15

p = probability that a house has smoke detectors = 0.70, then 0.60

q = probability of failure = probability that a house does NOT have smoke detectors = 1 - p = 1 - 0.70 = 0.30

And 1 - 0.60 = 0.40

P(X > 15) = sum of probabilities from P(X = 15) to P(X = 25)

When p = 0.70, P(X > 15) = 0.8105639765 = 0.8106

When p = 0.60, P(X > 15) = 0.42461701767 = 0.4246

c) How do the "error probabilities" of parts (a) and (b) change if the value 15 in the decision rule is replaced by 14.

The error probabilities include the probability of the claim being false.

When X = 15

(Error probability when p = 0.80) = 0.0173

when p = 0.70, error probability = P(X ≤ 15) = 1 - P(X > 15) = 1 - 0.8106 = 0.1894

when p = 0.60, error probability = 1 - 0.4246 = 0.5754

When X = 14

(Error probability when p = 0.80) = P(X ≤ 14) = 0.00555

when p = 0.70, error probability = P(X ≤ 14) = 0.0978

when p = 0.60, error probability = P(X ≤ 14) = 0.4142

The error probabilities are evidently lower when 15 is replaced with 14 in the calculations.

Hope this Helps!!!

Twice a year, for all four years of college, you used your credit card to pay for books and supplies, which amounts to $516 a se
mixer [17]

Answer:

$11,728

Step-by-step explanation:

Twice a year, for 4 years is 8 times

516×8 = 4128

Yearly for 4 years is 4 times

700×4 = 2800

Every month for 4 years is 48 times

100×48 = 4800

Minimum expenditure:

4128 + 2800 + 4800 = $11,728

A control chart is developed to monitor the analysis of iron levels in human blood. The lines on the control chart were obtained
sergejj [24]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

The variable is X: iron level on human blood.

It has a mean of μ= 51.50 mg/dl and a standard deviation of σ= 3.50 mg/dl.

According to the control chart, the process should be shut down for troubleshooting when the analysis shows values X[bar]≥ 53.42 mg/dl and X[bar]≤ 49.58 mg/dl

Warnings are received at levels X[bar]≥52.78 mg/dl and X[bar]≤ 50.22 mg/dl

The system works between levels 49.58<X[bar]<53.42 and works without warnings between 50.22<X[bar]<52.78.

Using these parameters you have to analyze if the lists of sample means to see which ones are within the working values are wich ones are outside this interval.

Sample 1

Min= 50.15

Max= 51.99

Mean= 51.61

Without warning 50.22<X[bar]<52.78

Without Action interval 49.58<X[bar]<53.42

This sample's min value is below the lower limit of the warning interval but not low enough to reach action levels, the max value is within the working range.

Sample 2

Min= 50.32

Max= 52.56

Mean= 51.16

Without warning 50.22<X[bar]<52.78

Without Action interval 49.58<X[bar]<53.42

Both the max and min values of the sample are within the working range without warning.

Sample 3

Min= 50.25

Max= 53.12

Mean= 51.83

Without warning 50.22<X[bar]<52.78

Without Action interval 49.58<X[bar]<53.42

The max value of this sample is above the upper limit of the warning interval but does not surpass the upper bond of the troubleshoot interval. Min value is within working values.

Sample 4

Min= 50.05

Max= 53.01

Mean= 51.70

Without warning 50.22<X[bar]<52.78

Without Action interval 49.58<X[bar]<53.42

Both min and max values surpass the warning interval but do not reach action levels.

Sample 5

Min= 50.35

Max= 52.71

Mean= 51.37

Without warning 50.22<X[bar]<52.78

Without Action interval 49.58<X[bar]<53.42

Both min and max values are within working levels without warnings.

Considering that samples reaching warning levels should be shut down as a precaution, they are classified as:

Shutdown: Sample 1, 3 and 4

Do not shutdown: Sample 2 and 5.

I hope it helps!
