The correct answer is B: he assumes that the white man has the right to decide what goals Africans need to pursue. Joseph Conrad's novella, Heart of Darkness, describes a life-altering journey that the protagonist, Marlow, experiences in the African Congo. The story explores the historical period of colonialism in Africa to exemplify Marlow's struggles. Marlow's understanding of Kurtz's experiences show him the effects colonialism can have on a man's soul.

Which statement best compares the last remarks in the two monologues?
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

Brutus creates closure, whereas Antony stimulates anger.

Explanation:

The two monologues in question are from Act III scene ii of the play "The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare. The two monologues are from the scene where Brutus had addressed the people after the death of Caesar and Antony had also came to view the body. He then addressed the people right after the exit of Brutus.

The last remarks of the two monologues are-

Brutus remarks that he wants the people to pay their respects to Caesar and told the, that Antony will address the people. After giving his leave, he exit and from there Antony began his speech.

Whereas, Antony's speech details the goodness and wholehearted sacrifice of Caesar for his people. The "over ambitious" nature that Brutus accused Caesar of, was what led him to be a great leader for his whole acts and aims was for the good of his people. He even mentioned that Caesar had written in his will that the people of Rome are to be his inheritors.

Thus, the two monologues that the two leaders gave after the death of Caesar are quite different in that, Brutus' monologue creates closure for everyone, not only himself. He accepts the death of Caesar and implores the people to do so too. But Antony's monologue rather stimulates anger in the people.

The orchard walls are high and hard to climb, And the place death, considering who thou art, If any of my kinsmen find thee here
Verizon [17]

<em>The orchard walls are high and hard to climb, And the place death, considering who thou art, If </em><em>any</em><em> of my kinsmen find thee here.</em>

<em>Any</em> is the indefinite pronoun because it means something like "it does not matter who of my kinsmen as long as the person is one of my kinsmen" although Present Day English demands agreement as third person singular (<em>if any of you agree</em><em>s</em>) in the passage the agreement is third person plural because from the point of view of meaning [<em>any of my kinsmen</em>] can be replaced as <em>they</em>  and the verb <em>find</em> agrees with this plural idea.

Present Day British English has this kind of agreement called collective noun which grammatically can function like the pronoun <em>they</em>, for example as in <em>the committee </em><em>have</em><em> started the meeting</em>). The word <em>police</em> is another example of collective noun by taking third person plural agreement as in the sentence <em>The police </em><em>have </em><em>arrived</em>.
