Answer

Find the  cost of the meals before the tip.

To prove

As given

Emily takes her friend Darren out to eat for his birthday.

She pays a total of $45, which includes a 20% tip.

20% is written in the decimal form

= \frac{20}{100}

= 0.20

Cost of the  tip = 0.20 × 45

                         = $ 9

Thus

Cost of the meals before the tip = Cost of the meal with tip - tip cost

                                                       = $45 - $9

                                                       = $ 36

Therefore the cost of the meals before the tip is $36 .

Answer: $37.50

Step-by-step explanation:

Let c= cost before the tip

*Turn 20% into a decimal

c+ 0.20c=45

1.20c=45

45/1.20=37.50

That is the cost before the meal.

in germany, VAT is at 19% Jeremy buys a calculator in germny for €58.31 This price includes VAT Find the amount of VAT paid by
Len [333]

We can use this equation to solve this problem:

<span>t=p+<span>(p⋅r)</span></span>

Where:

t is the total price paid: 58.31 for this problem

p is the price before taxes: What we are solving for in this problem.

r is the tax or VAT rate: 19% for this problem. "Percent" or "%" means "out of 100" or "per 100", Therefore 19% can be written as <span>19100</span> or 0.19.

Substituting and solving for p gives:

<span>58.31=p+<span>(p⋅0.19)</span></span>

<span>58.31=1p+0.19p</span>

<span>58.31=<span>(1+0.19)</span>p</span>

<span>58.31=1.19p</span>

<span><span>58.311.19</span>=<span><span>1.19p</span>1.19</span></span>

<span>49=<span><span>1.19p</span>1.19</span></span>

<span>49=p</span>

<span>p=49</span>

Now, we can find how much the VAT was by taking 19% of 49:

<span>19%×49=0.19×49=9.31</span>

Another was to solve this is to subtract the price without the tax or VAT from the total price giving:

<span>58.31−49=<span>9.31</span></span>

For three minutes the temperature of a feverish person has had negative first derivative and positive second derivative.
nydimaria [60]

Answer:

A.) The temperature fell in the last minute, but less than it fell in the minute before.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that for three minutes the temperature of a feverish person has had negative first derivative and positive second derivative.

i.e. it temperature is represented by T, temperature is variable with

first derivative T' <0 and second derivative T">0

i.e. rate of change of temperature is negative or temperature is falling down in 3 minutes.

But the rate of rate of change of temperature was positive i.e. the rate of change of temperature is increasing as time increases.

So correct option would be option A

A.) The temperature fell in the last minute, but less than it fell in the minute before.

Rashawn recently spent $100 to open a store selling tee-shirts. At his business, he purchases plain tee-shirts for $11 each, pri
Doss [256]
To answer this question you can write an equation that represents this situation.

I would subtract $11 (the cost per shirt) from the selling price to get $15 profit for each shirt. He paid $100 already and wants to profit $400, so the amount he needs to make is $500.

$15x = $500 would be the equation needed to answer this. x stands for the number of shirts.

Divide both sides by $15 to get
x = 33.33.... shirts.

He would need to sell at least 34 to make at least $400 profit.

Oil leaks out of a tanker at a rate of r=f(t) liters per minute, where t is in minutes. If f(t)=Ae^(−kt), write a definite integ
Slav-nsk [51]

Answer:

The definite integral expressing the total quantity of oil, 'V', which leaks out of the tanker in the first hour is given as follows;

V = \int\limits^{60}_0 {A \cdot e^{(-k \cdot t)}} \, dt

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we have;

The rate at which oil leaks out of the tanker, r = f(t)

The unit of the oil leak = Liters per minute

The unit of t = Minutes

If \ f(t) = A \cdot e^{(-k \cdot t )}

Therefore, we have;

The definite integral expressing the total quantity, 'V', of oil which leaks out of the tanker in the first hour is given as follows;

V = \int\limits^{60}_0 {A \cdot e^{(-k \cdot t)}} \, dt

Therefore, we have;

\int\limits^{60}_0 {A \cdot e^{(-k \cdot t)}} \, dt = \dfrac{A \cdot e ^{60 \cdot k} - A}{k \cdot e ^{60 \cdot k} }
