Answer:

1. The stresses highlight important words and concepts.

4. The regular rhythm intensifies the emotional impact.

Explanation:

Iambic pentameter is a lyrical pattern or rhythm in poetry or verse where there are specific number of syllables. These syllables have a huge emphasis on the nature of the poem. In iambic pentameter, there are ten syllables, with both stressed and unstressed syllables intertwined. William Shakespeare usually employs this type of metrical scheme for his sonnets.

Sonnet 100 of William Shakespeare is a perfect example of iambic pentameter. The lines in the poem all have ten syllables in each line, with the stressed and unstressed within. This rhythm pattern makes it possible to highlight the important words and concepts of the poem. It also intensifies the emotional impact of the poem, with the speaker imploring "the Muse" to inspire him so that he will be able to write about his beloved again.

kati45 [8]

The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde, is a play that has been described as a trivial comedy for serious people in which its characters create alternate and fictional personas to be able to deal with the burdens put on them by Victorian society. First acted in 1895 in the St. James Theater in London, this play deals with such serious matters as marriage and the customs and beliefs of Victorian society in a trivial way and satirize Victorian conventions.

In this particular excerpt of the III Act of the play what Jack, one of the main characters of the play, is showing is a tendency to show his emotions as he consistently and insistently tries in some form express his emotions and feelings through a constant attempt at hugging and touching Miss Prism.
