A factory begins making tortillas in the morning, and it continues to making tortillas throughout the day at a nearly constant r

ate. at noon, Mr Nichols starts collecting data about the total numbers of tortillas he made. he updates his data every half hour, and at the end of the day he creates the given graph to display the data.
The linear equation shown below can be used to model the data, where x is the time, in hours, and y is the number of tortillas produced.
Y= 12,000x + 35,000

Use the graph of the linear model to complete the following statements. Round to the nearest thousand, if necessary:
(questions with black spaces is where the answer should go)
(1): When Mr. nichols began recording data, (answer) tortillas had already been produced.
(2): The total number of tortillas produced 2 hours after he began recording the data was (answer).
(3): The total number of tortillas produced (answer) hours after he began recording the data was 85,000

Thanks you so much !

Answer: (1): When Mr. nichols began recording data, 35,000 tortillas had already been produced.

(2) The total number of tortillas produced 2 hours after he began recording the data was 59,000.

(3) The total number of tortillas produced 4.166 hours after he began recording the data was 85,000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equation:- y=12,000x+35,000 , where x is the time, in hours, and y is the number of tortillas produced.

(1): When Mr. Nichols began recording data, x should be zero as starting time.

So, at x=0, y=35,000

Thus, When Mr. Nichols began recording data, 35,000 tortillas had already been produced.

(2) To find the number of tortillas produced 2 hours after he began recording the data.

Put x=2 in the equation, we get

y=12,000(2)+35,000=24,000+35,000=59,000

Thus, The total number of tortillas produced 2 hours after he began recording the data was 59,000.

(3) Given number of tortillas= 85,000

Put y=85,000 in the equation, we get

85,000=12,000x+35,000\\\Rightarrow12,000x=50,000\\\Rightarrow\ x=\frac{50,000}{12,000}\\\Rightarrow\ x=4.16666\approx4.166\ hours

Your friend claims that if a line has a slope less than 1, then any line perpendicular to it must have a positive slope. Is your
mezya [45]

Answer:

The friend's claim is not correct

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

If two lines are perpendicular, then their slopes are opposite reciprocal (the product of their slopes is equal yo -1)

Example

A given line has a slope of m_1=1/2 ---> (is less than 1)

the slope of the line perpendicular to the given line is equal to

m_1*m_2=-1

substitute

(1/2)*m_2=-1

m_2=-2

so

the perpendicular line don't have a positive slope

therefore

The friend's claim is not correct

The area of square abcd is 7cm^2

show that x^2+4x=3
AveGali [126]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

The area (A) of the square = s² ( s is the measure of the side )

Here s = x + 2 and A = 7 , thus

(x + 2)² = 7 ← expand left side using FOIL

x² + 4x + 4 = 7 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

x² + 4x = 3 ← as required
