Claim: High schools should extend the school day by one

English

B. Teachers already work long hours, and this prevents them from

being able to spend enough time with their families. This counterclaim directly responds to the claim. Instruction time makes reference to teaching time ,so the focus is on teachers' labour .

These statements do not counterargue with the claim:

A. Many students have jobs, and an extended school day would

decrease the hours they could work. The claim sets the focus on teachers not on students' activities after school.

C. Students often come to school hungry, and school lunches don't

provide enough nutrition. The claim does not refere to students' nutrition.

D. Schools often focus on standardized testing as a measurement of

student learning. There is not any information about evaluation.

The correct answer is:

A. Many students have jobs, and an extended school day would decrease the hours they could work.

A counterclaim is a claim made to offset another claim, especially one made by the defendant in a legal action. In this especific statement, the only counterclaim that responds directly to this claim is the fact that students won't have enough paid hours and that will affect directly their lifestyle and wealthness, involving also their school performance.

Which statement most accurately paraphrases lines 71-72 of "The Wanderer'?
astraxan [27]

Answer:

The statement that most accurately paraphrases the lines is:

A. What intelligent person does not know that riches disappear in the end?

Explanation:

When we paraphrase, we reword the ideas expressed by someone. We do not change the ideas, nor do we summarize. We say the exact same thing, but with different words. Let's take a look at what is being said here:

What knowing man knows not the ghostly,

Waste-like end of worldly wealth

The lines above are questioning something. They are asking, maybe in rhetorical way, what intelligent man does not know about how material wealth disappears in the end. The adjective "knowing" is the same as "knowledgeable" or "intelligent". And "waste-like end" means the wealth does not really value much. It disappears ("ghostly", like everything else.

With that in mind, we can easily see that letter A is the one conveying all those ideas:

A. What intelligent person does not know that riches disappear in the end?

What type of evidence would support the rebuttal? Check all that apply. Rebuttal: It is true that Bob Dylan has published tradit
katrin2010 [14]

Answer:

Statistics about the number of books written by past recipients of the Nobel Prize in Literature

A quotation by a literary scholar explaining why Dylan’s lyrics are not poetry quotations from both Tarantula and Chronicles: Volume One

Explanation:

To make a rebuttal is to counter a claim that is made against someone by providing contrary evidence.

There was a claim that Dylan's Nobel Prize award was not accurate because his lyrics were not considered as literature and thus do not qualify for the award.

The supporting evidences are that a quotation by a literary scholar was provided to corroborate the claim that Dylan's lyrics are not poetry.

Another supporting evidence is that the number of books written by past winners were more when compared to the few number Dylan wrote.

How does odilia feel after La Llorona gives her the sprigs of jojotle?
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

Answer:

She felt dizzy for in her own words, "the room was spinning a little".

Explanation:

"Summer of the Mariposas" is the story of five girls who discovered the body of a man whom they believed came from Mexico, floating in the body of water where they swam. The girls who were cared for by their mother and abandoned by their father decided that instead of going to the police, they would rather take the body back to Mexico and also visit their grandmom there. During their adventure, Odilia who was one of the sisters encountered La Llorana, a ghost who was believed to have taken her children's lives in the river. Initially, she was scared but the woman calmed her fears by telling the girls that the popular story about her was untrue. She gave Odilia an earring to protect her and her sisters five times in the course of their journey.

Later, when the sisters were taken to the home of a woman named Cecilia who was poisoning them, La Llorona gave Odilia Sprigs of Jojotle to help her recover. The Jojotle had a dizzy effect for Odilia commented that she had to go 'sit down on the bed because the room was spinning a little'.

trasher [3.6K]

Answer:

The Enlightenment man would be the most beneficial to today's society.

Explanation:

As was shown in the question above, the Enlightenment man was a great scholar and used to apply the concepts he had studied in the society in which he lived, always considering logic and truth and aiming to help the people most oppressed by society.

As our current society is taken over by polariazação, the persecution of science and study, the persecution of minorities and political fanaticism, I believe that the great scholar and thinker as an enlightenment would be the ideal to be a contemporary hero.
