____________________________________________________

Answer:

Your answer would be D). Political leaders who are not restricted by laws are likely to become dangerous tyrants.

____________________________________________________

The statement that the Greek philosophers Aristotle and Plato be most likely to agree with is that political leaders who are not restricted by laws are likely to become dangerous tyrants.

____________________________________________________

Who they are:

Aristotle:

Aristotle was a Greek Philosopher that is known for being a great thinker in things like ethics, psychology, and politics. Known for being the "Father of Western Philosophy."

Plato:

Plato was a Greek Philosopher that is known for the dialogues he wrote. He is also known for making the first university in the western world.

____________________________________________________

Explanation:

The reason why the Greek philosophers Aristotle and Plato would mostly agree with the statement "Political leaders who are not restricted by laws are likely to become dangerous tyrants" because they noticed a change in peoples attitude and actions when they became political leaders. During their time, whenever someone is a political leader, they are not restricted to any laws that are restricted to the common people, therefore giving them a tremendous amount of power. Because they have all the power, they become dangerous and become a tyranny. A tyranny is a oppressed or cruel government. This means that the political leaders could turn into a tyranny because they have all the power, and they wouldn't care about what people thinks since they were at the top. This is very dangerous because people in the economy would suffer, and would most likely try to escape and find another place where the government isn't cruel. The greatest men that could be in the country, could turn into tyranny's due to the power that they get and the restrictions they don't have compared to other people.

____________________________________________________

Why the other answer choices are incorrect:

Answer choice "A). Only the best men should become political leaders, as they are free from passions." is incorrect because:

Even though they were the best men before they were political leaders, their mindsets could change whenever they are a political leader. Some great men that turned into political leaders turned out as a dangerous tyranny, and people suffered because of that. The best men have a possibility to change due to the amount of power they would be getting. This is the reason why this answer choice would be eliminated.

Answer choice "B). Commonly held religious beliefs are most important basis for all of a country's laws" is incorrect because:

They believed that religion doesn't have to determine what kind of laws that would be made. Not everyone in their economy believed in the same religion, so they wanted to make it equal and have laws that doesn't really have to do with religion. That's why you see laws that are not specifically based off of their common religion. This is the reason why this answer choice would be eliminated.

Answer choice "C). Criminals should be punished as harshly as possible to help maintain social stability" is incorrect because:

They believed that Criminals were humans too, just like everyone else, and they just made terrible decisions. But, they were still punished because of what they did, but not as harshly as the statement says. They didn't see the point of harshly punishing someone, the person has feelings too. This is the reason why this answer choice would be eliminated.

When he died, his son took over and then his grandson Kublai Khan took over and established the Yuan dynasty in 1271. After this, Kublai employed the methods of Chinese rule that he had found amongst the Chinese thereby assimilating the conquering Mongols into Chinese lifestyle.

The correct answer is D, that to encourage people to take action against widespread corruption

The "Muckrakers" were crusading journalists, authors and photographers who published their work in order to raise awareness on social issues and injustice. Other muckrakers highlighted the deficiencies in the political system. Their newspapers, articles and photographs led to the formation of influence groups sparking a series of reforms during the Progressive Era (1890 - 1920). Raising awareness of social injustice, corruption and inequality and the abuse of political power was their main goal in order to bring about the reform.
