Richard Russel tried to run the state of Georgia as it were a successful business. He consolidated 102 different state offices into 17 agencies. He created the Board of Regions from the state's college system . After being a governor of Georgia he was elected as senator and he served there for 38 years. Carl Vinson  is often referred to as the "father of representatives of the two-ocean navy". He was 25 consecutive terms representing Georgia in the U.S.  House of Representatives from 1914 to 1965.  Vinson, a native of Baldwin County, served as chairman of the House Naval Affairs Committee for 16 years and its successor, the House Armed Services Committee for 14 years. Even before World War II, Georgia’s economy had grown to depend heavily on the state’s military installations, and Vinson represented Georgia’s interest in the military through his committee work. Vinson was a major influence in promoting a strong national defense.  As you cans see both Russel and Vinson were good men that helped their state in the public service. However Russell was more involved in the governance while Vince's work is more related to the military, the navy and the national defense. Russel made economies in the administration of Georgia and Vince improve Geogia's economy taking advantage of the good relationship with the militaty and the navy.
