An educational psychologist designs a demanding but fair spelling test that can be administered to grade school children. The te

st is found to be valid and reliable. A researcher selects the test to help evaluate a “cognitive” approach to teaching spelling. A 5th grade class is tested prior to being taught the new method at the beginning of the school year and then again after the new method is taught at the end of the year. The children show improvement on their spelling scores from the first to the second test administration, suggesting that the program was effective in helping children to learn to spell. What is a threat to the internal validity of the study?

The answer is: Testing

One thing that can question the internal validity of the case above is the difficulty between the first and the second test since the psychologists never really mention it.

If, let's say that the questions on the second tests are exactly the same as the first tests or have lower difficulties compared to the first one, the better performance given by the student is not necessarily influenced by the teaching method.

Suppose Canada has a population of 30 million people and a labor force participation rate of 2/3. Furthermore, suppose the natur
olga2289 [7]

Answer:

the unemployment rate is above the natural rate of unemployment

Explanation:

The unemployment rate may be defined as the percent of the unemployed people in a total labor force. Workers may be considered as unemployed when they do not work currently, but they are willing to work and are able to do so.

The total labor force of a country includes all the employed as well as the  unemployed people within the economy.

The natural rate of unemployment is defined as the unemployment rate which  exist in a growing economy.

In the context, total population is given = 30 million

Labor force participation rate = 2/3.

Therefore, labor force = 2/3 of 30 million

                                    = 20 million people

The natural rate of unemployment in Canada is given = 7%

The current unemployed people is = 2 million

Therefore, unemployment rate =  (unemployed people/total labor force) x 100

                                                    = (2/20) x 100

                                                     = 10 %

Thus

natural rate of unemployment in Canada is 7%

unemployment rate is 10%

From here we can see that the unemployemnet rate is higher than the natural rate of unemployment in Canada.

Hence the answer is ---

the unemployment rate is above the natural rate of unemployment

Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

The correct answer to the following question will be Option 1 (Signal Detection).

Explanation:

  • The concept or theory of signal detection, which is at its quite simple, states whether detection of something like a stimulus rests both on the strength of that same stimulus as well as the person's physiological/mental issue.
  • Whether the sound would be a spontaneous variable with such an established spectrum of probabilities, then maybe this information can be used to find the best way of identifying the signal.

The other three options are not related to the given scenario. So, Option 1 is the right answer.

How might the text and performance of sleepyhead, Cupid, have resonated with male audiences who were accustomed to thinking of w
CaHeK987 [17]

Answer: Male audiences might have found it ironic for a supposed courtesan to use love as the main theme.

Explanation:

Barbara Strozzi´s Amor dormiglione (Sleepyhead, Cupid!) is a lighthearted aria for soprano and lute that invokes the God of love.

Strozzi focused most of her works in secular music, especially arias with the theme of love.

Women Composers in Baroque Italy were not publicly recognized, because them showing off their talent was thought inappropriate.

Even though it has been implied that Barbara Strozzi was a courtesan, it hasn´t actually been confirmed.
