A Dime is worth 2 nickels which equals 10.

let no of dimes be x

let no of nickles be y

so as per the data mentioned in the question , x=2*y-10

total amount = $2.75

so total amount should comprise of nickels and dimes

x*dimes + y*nickels = $2.75

x*( 2 nickels)+ y *nickels = $2.75

=> nickles( 2x+y) = $ 2.75

but 20 nickels = 1 dollar

nickles(2x+y) = 2.75*20 nickels

cancelling nickles on both sides

2x+y = 55

already we know that x= 2y-10

so 2(2y-10) +y= 55

4y-20+y=55

5y -20 =55

So, your answer is 55.

Answer: 15 nickels and 20 dimes

Step-by-step explanation:

Nickels (N) = N and each is worth $0.05

Dimes (D) = 2N - 10 and each is worth $0.10

0.05N + 0.10D = 2.75

0.05N + 0.10(2N - 10) = 2.75

0.05N + 0.20N - 1.00 = 2.75

             0.25N - 1.00 = 2.75

             0.25N           = 3.75

                    N          =   15

D = 2N - 10

   = 2(15) - 10

   =  30  - 10

   =     20

Check:

0.05(55) + 0.10(20) = 2.75

   0.75    +     2.00   = 2.75

            2.75           = 2.75 \checkmark

myrzilka [38]

We are given the functions:

S (p) = 40 + 0.008 p^3                                     ---> 1

D (p) = 200 – 0.16 p^2                                     ---> 2

T o find for the price in which the price of supply equals demand, all we have to do is to equate the two equations, equation 1 and 2, and calculate for the value of p, therefore:

S (p) = D (p)

40 + 0.008 p^3 = 200 – 0.16 p^2

0.008 p^3 + 0.16 p^2 = 160

p^3 + 20 p^2 = 20,000

p^3 + 20 p^2 – 20,000 = 0

Calculating for the roots using the calculator gives us:

p = 21.86, -20.93±21.84i

Since price cannot be imaginary therefore:

p = 21.86

The equation to determine the weekly earnings of an employee at the hamburger shack is given by w(x), where x is the number of h
SVETLANKA909090 [29]
To arrive at the answer, I graphed the piecewise function using a graphing calculator, then evaluated it at x=38 and x=52. I drew a line at y=445 and found the point of intersection on the graph.

a) The difference between earnings for 52 hours ($580) and earnings for 38 hours ($380) is $200.

b) An employee must work 43 hours to earn $445.

Assume that the die is weighted so that the probability of a 1 is 0.1, the probability of a 2 is 0.2, the probability of a 3 is
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

The probabilities of each outcome are the following:

for X = 1 is 0.6

for X = 2 is 0.35

for X = 3 is 0.049

and for X = 4 is 0.001

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's consider X as the random variable for the sum of outcomes "S" exceeds 3, this is: S\geq 4

Let's now analyze and consider the ways that X equals the different values:

X = 1: I throw the dice and the result is: 4, 5 and 6.

Then: P(X=1) = P(4) + P(5) + P(6) = 0.2+0.1+0.3 = 0.6

Thus P(X=1) = 0.6

X = 2: The result after following the dice two times can be:

1 and 3, 1 an 4.... and so on until 1 and 6

2 and 2, 2 and 3... and so on until 2 and 6

3 and 1... and so on until 3 a 6

Then P(X=2) = P(1)xP(3,4,5,6) + P(2)xP(2....6) + P(3)x(1.....6)

Theory of Probability: Sum of all possible outcomes P(1)+P(2).......P(6) = 1

Then P(1......6) = 1

Then P(X=2) = P(1)x[1-P(1)-P(2)]+P(2)x[1-P(1)]+P(3) = 0.1x(1-0.1-0.2) + 0.2x(1-0.1) + 0.1 = 0.1 x 0.7 + 0.2 x 0.9 + 0.1 = 0.35

Thus P(X=2) = 0.35

X = 3: The result can be

1 and 1 and 2, 1 and 1 and 3.... until 1 and 1 and 6

1 and 2 and 1, 1 and 2 and 2..... until 1 and 2 and 6

2 and 1 and 1, 2 and 1 and 2.... until 2 and 1 and 6

Then P(X=3) = P(1)xP(1)xP(2....6) + P(1)xP(2)xP(1.....6) + P(1)xP(2)xP(1.....6)

P(X=3) = 0.1 x 0.1 x (1-0.1) + 0.1 x 0.2 x 1 + 0.2 x 0.1 x 1 = 0.01 x 0.9 + 0.2 + 0.2 = 0.049

Thus P(X=3) = 0.049

Finally, for X to be 4, I only have the following possibilities

1 and 1 and 1 and 1.... until 1 and 1 and 1 and 6

Then P(X=4) = P(1)xP(1)xP(1)xP(1.....6) = 0.1x0.1x0.1x1 = 0.001

Thus P(X=3) = 0.001

A beam of light (travelling at the speed of light) would take 65 years to go and 65 years to come back from aldebaran, i.e. 130 years. You can send and receive a radio message (travelling at the speed of light, being electromagnetic radiation) taking so 130 years.
