Answer:

There are 20 pennies, 33 nickels and 11 quarts.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

1 penny = 1 cent

1 nickel = 5 pennies = 5 cent

1 quarter = 25 pennies = 25 cents

Let x be the number of pennies, y be the number of nickels and z be the number of quarts.

Total number of coins = 64

Amount of money = $4.60 = 460 cents

The, we have the following equations:

x +y +z =64\\x + 5y + 25z = 460

Also, we have three times as many nickels as quarters.

y = 3z

Putting this value in the above equation:

x + 4z =64\\x + 40z = 460

Solving the two equation, we have

x = 20, z = 11

y = 3z = 33

Hence, there are 20 pennies, 33 nickels and 11 quarts.

Answer:

There are 20 pennies, 33 nickels and 11 quarters

Step-by-step explanation:

- You have 64 coins, consisting of pennies, nickels, and quarters

- The value of the coins is $4.60

- Assume that there are p pennies, n nickles, and q quarters

∴ p + n + q = 64 ⇒ (1)

- Lets find the value of each types of coins

∵ 1 penny = 1 cent ⇒ p = p cents

∵ 1 nickel = 5 cents ⇒ n = 5n cents

∵ 1 quarter = 25 cents ⇒ q = 25q cents

∵ 1 dollar = 100 cents ⇒ $4.60 = 4.60 × 100 = 460 cents

∴ p + 5n + 25q = 460 ⇒ (2)

- You also know that you have three times as many nickels as quarters

∴ n = 3q ⇒ (3) ⇒ the number of nickles by quarters

∵ 5n = 5(3q)

∴ 5n = 15q ⇒ (4) ⇒ the values of nickles by quarters

- Substitute (3) in equation (1) and (4) in equation (2)

∴ p + 3q + q = 64

∴ p + 4q = 64 ⇒ (5)

∴ p + 15q + 25q = 460

∴ p + 40q = 460 ⇒ (6)

- Subtract equation (5) from equation(6) to eliminate p

∴ 36q = 396

- Divide both sides by 36

∴ q = 11

- Substitute the value of q in equation (5)

∴ p + 4(11) = 64

∴ p + 44 = 64

- Subtract 44 from both sides

∴ p = 20

- Substitute the value of q in (3)

∴ n = 3(11) = 33

∴ n = 33

There are 20 pennies, 33 nickels and 11 quarters

For which values of k does the system of linear equations have zero, one, or an infinite number of solutions? [Note: not all thr
anastassius [24]

Answer:

For k = 36, there is 0 solutions

For other values of k, there is 1

We never got infinite solutions on the system.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have 2 unknowns and 2 equations:

E1 8x1 + x2 = 18

E2 k*22 x1 + 9 x2 = 18

If we multiply the E1 by 9 we obtain

E3 72 x1 + 9x2 = 162

if we substract E3 with E2 we obtain

(72- 2k) x1 = 144

Thus,

x1 = 144/ (72-2k)

That is, if 72-2k = 0, otherwise there is no solution. And 72-2k = 0 when k = 72/2 = 36.

If k is not 36, then

x1 = 144/(72-2k) and we can replace this value to obtain x2 by using E1

x2 = 18-8x1 = 18- 8 * (144/72-2k)

Which is a specific number that depends only on k. Thus,

for k = 36, there is 0 solutions

for other values of k, there is unique solution.

How many ways can Rudy choose 4 pizza toppings from a menu of 14 toppings if each topping can only be chosen once
madam [21]

Answer:

24,024

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculation for How many ways can Rudy choose 4 pizza toppings from a menu of 14 toppings

The 4 pizza toppings from a menu of 14 toppings will be 14,13,12,11

Hence,

14*13*12*11=24,024

Therefore the numbers of way Rudy can choose 4 pizza toppings from a menu of 14 is 24,024

Sylvester and Lin go to the amusement park. Sylvester plays 5 rounds of mini golf and takes 4 turns in the batting cages for $60
leva [86]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation

let's use g for golf and b for batting cages

So let's start with Sylvester

he plays 5 rounds of mini golf so 5g

and he takes 4 turns in the batting cages so 4b

and he pays 60 dollars for this

SO his equation is 5g+4b=60

Now onto Lin

3g for 3 rounds of golf

6b for 6 turns in the batting cages

He pays 45 dollars

SO his equation is 3g+6b=45

Both equations:

5g+4b=60

3g+6b=45

Now you need to cancel out one variable so you can multiply the first equation by 3 and the second one by -5

15g+12b=120

-15g-30b=-225

Now the g will cancel out when you add both equations

-18b=-105

b=105/18 which is about 5.83 dollars

Now plug in 105/18 into any of the original equations and solve for g
