College is not for everyone. Too often schools push all students to go to college right away after high school. They say that it

is the key to success and that it will lead to the greatest opportunities for everyone. However, this simply isn't true. My brother went to college and earned good grades, but he was not able to find a job after graduation. He learned a lot of great things in college, but that did not necessarily make him a good job candidate.
There are also other options for people who have different interests. I don't enjoy a school where teachers lecture too much, and I prefer more interactive activities. I am much more interested in learning a trade and would consider attending a trade school or taking up an apprenticeship. This route would provide me with a good-paying job, while allowing me to follow my individual passions. I am not alone in this, but the message from my school and many counselors is that college is the only option for people like us.
College can be great, but there are many other paths out there. A lot of students need to take time off before going to college, which will help them figure out what they want to do and save a little money in the process. This is especially important for students who do lack the financial resources to pay for college on their own. Whether it is for financial or personal reasons, plenty of students want and need to consider something besides college immediately after high school. It is time that high schools acknowledge that reality and prepare students for the best future for them as individuals.

Read the sentence. In what ways does the underlined clause add variety and meaning to the sentence? Check all that apply.
Flauer [41]

Answer:

The correct answers are:

- It adds detail about the photographs.

- It tells the reader which photographs are being discussed.

- It creates a compound-complex sentence.

Explanation:

First of all, the underlined clause adds some details about the photographs; that the photographs are faded and cracked. It also reveals to us that the writer refers to the photographs he stored in the attic, so we get one additional information about the photographs.

As we previously indicated, this is a compound-complex sentence, which is modifying the main noun by adding more information about photographs. In our example, this sentence is composed of a compound sentence and a complex sentence.
