There are two misshapen coins in a box; their probabilities for landing on heads when they are flipped are, respectively, .4 and

.7. One of the coins is to be randomly chosen and flipped 10 times. Given that two of the first three flips landed on heads, what is the conditional expected number of heads in the 10 flips?

6 0

Answer:

E(X) = 6.0706

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Define notation

X = random variable who represents the number of heads in the 10 first tosses

Y = random variable who represents the number of heads in range within toss number 4 to toss number 10

And we can define the following events

a= The first coin has been selected

b= The second coin has been selected

c= represent that we have 2 Heads within the first two tosses

2) Formulas to apply

We need to find E(X|c) = ?

If we use the total law of probability we can find E(Y)

E(Y) = E(Y|a) P(a|c) + E(Y|b)P(b|c) ....(1)

Finding P(a|c) and using the Bayes rule we have:

P(a|c) = P(c|a) P(a) / P(c) ...(2)

Replacing P(c) using the total law of probability:

P(a|c) = [P(c|a) P(a)] /[P(c|a) P(a) + P(c|b) P(b)] ... (3)

We can find the probabilities required

P(a) = P(b) = 0.5

P(c|a) = (3C2) (0.4^2) (0.6) = 0.288

P(c|b) = (3C2)(0.7^2) (0.3) = 0.441

Replacing the values into P(a|c) we got

P(a|c) = (0.288 x 0.5) /(0.288x 0.5 + 0.441x0.5) = 0.144/ 0.3645 = 0.39506

Since P(a|c) + P(b|c) = 1. With this we can find P(b|c) = 1 - P(a|c) = 1-0.39506 = 0.60494

After this we can find the expected values

E(Y|a) = 7x 0.4 = 2.8

E(Y|b) = 7x 0.7 = 4.9

Finally replacing the values into equation (1) we got

E(Y|c) = 2.8x 0.39506 + 4.9x0.60494 = 4.0706

And finally :

E(X|c) = 2+ E(Y|c) = 2+ 4.0706 = 6.0706

Because they're all the same distance from the x axis on a coordinate plane. Also, remember that in quadrant I, all trig values are positive. In Q II, only sine and cosecant are positive. In Q III, only tangent and cotangent are positive. In Q IV, only cosine and secant are positive. Think of it as All Students Take Calculus.

When Sarah divided a number by 5, the quotient was 247 with a remainder. What is one possible dividend? With a complete sentence
JulijaS [17]

Answer: Hope this helps took super long to find and type :)

let : a the dividend

you have : a = 5×247 + R ....  R is the remainder

when divided a by 5   :  R  = 0  ,  R = 1 , R  =2  , R  = 3  , R  = 4

R  = 0     : a = 5×247 + 0  = 1235

R  = 1     : a = 5×247 + 1  = 1236

R  = 2     : a = 5×247 + 2   = 1237

R  = 3     : a = 5×247 + 3  = 1238

R  = 4     : a = 5×247 + 4  =  1239

Which statements are true about the location of 3.28 on the number line? Check all that apply. A number line from 1.2 to 4.2. 3.
Juliette [100K]

Answer:

- 3.28 should be plotted between 3.2 and 3.4

- 3.28 is closer to 3.0 than 4.0.

- 3.28 is closer to 3.2 than 3.4.

Step-by-step explanation:

3.28 is located towards the positive side of the number line being a positive value. Since the value is located between 3.2 and 3.4, therefore it can be plotted between this two points.

Also 3.28 is known to be closer to 3.0 than 4.0 because the difference between 3.28 and 3.0 is lower than the difference between 3.28 and 4.

4-3.28 = 0.72(larger value)

3.28-3.0 = 0.28 (smaller value)

The smaller the difference, the closer the value of 3.28 to the value in consideration.

Similarly, 3.28 is closer to 3.2 than 3.4, due to their differences. The difference between 3.28 and 3.2 is lower than the difference between 3.28 and 3.4 as shown:

3.28 - 3.2 = 0.08(smaller)

3.4-3.28 = 0.12(larger)

There are 161 calories in 28 grams you eat 9 cashews totaling 12 grams. How many cashews are in one serving
makkiz [27]

Answer:

For every 4 grams there are 3 cashews.

12g=9. So that means there are 18 cashews in 24 grams. And like we said, there are 3 cashews in every 4 grams. So there are 21 cashews for 161 cals, equating to 28g.
