Alcohol produces pain, pain on eating, irritation in the lining of the stomach and heartburn. Alcohol produces acids in the stomach which will lead to vomit and nausea. Thus by vomiting the stomach tries to eliminate the excess of alcohol from the body to reduce the toxic effects of alcohol. Hence, the stomach maintains the homeostasis in the body.
