SunDrop Candies Inc claims that their 3 ounce bag of candies contains over 90 pieces of candy.

Answer:

a) X~N(μ;σ²)

b) [87.695 ; 89.464]

c) and d) check the explanation below

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

The objective of this experiment is to test if the claim of the company is correct and the 3-ounce bags of candies contain over 90 pieces of candy.

For this, a sample of 26 bags was taken and the number of candies per bag was counted.

The study variable is X: number of candy pieces in a 3 ounces bag.

a)

Using the sample data I've made a Shapiro-Wilks test,

H₀: X has a normal distribution

H₁: X doesn't have a normal distribution

α: 0.05

p-value: 0.5675

Since the p-value is greater than the significance level, we can assume that the study variable has normal distribution:

X~N(μ;σ²)

b)

To make this confidence interval, considering I only have sample data, I choose to use the Student t statistic.

Sample mean X[bar]= 88.58

Sample standard deviation S= 2.19

t_{n-1;1-\alpha/2} = t_{25;0.975} = 2.060

The formula for the interval is:

X[bar] ± t_{n-1;1-\alpha/2} * (S/√n)

88.58 ± 2.060 * (2.19/√26)

[87.695 ; 89.464]

c)

With a confidence level of 95%, you'd expect that the interval [87.69; 89.46] contains the value of the population mean of the number of candy pieces in a 3 ounces bag.

d)

The SunDrop Candies' claim is that their 3 ounces bag contains over 90 pieces of candy. Symbolically: μ > 90

Since their claim would lead to a one-tailed hypothesis test and the calculated confidence interval is two-tailed, you cannot use it to decide whether or not the company's claim is true. But, seeing as the two bonds of the interval are below 90 you could think that the company's claim is not correct. Of course this is just an idea, you must perform a statistical test to test if the company is wrong or not and, of course, have a statistical backing of your conclusions.

I hope it helps!

A consumer is considering two different purchasing options for the car of their choice. The first option, which is leasing, is d
AVprozaik [17]

Answer:

 • y=250x+4000
 • y=400x+400

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

 • x represents the number of months of ownership; and
 • y represents the total paid for the car after ‘x' months.

First Option (Leasing)

250x - y + 4000 = 0

Expressing the equation in the Slope-Intercept Form y=mx+b, we have:

y=250x+4000

Second Option (Financing)

$400 for 0 months of ownership, (0,400), and $4400 for 10 months of ownership, (10, 4400).

First, we determine the slope of the line joining (0,400) and (10,4400)

Slope, m= \dfrac{4400-400}{10-0}= \dfrac{4000}{10}=400

We have:

y=400x+b

When y=400, x=0

400=400(0)+b

b=400

Therefore, the Slope-Intercept Form of the second option is:

y=400x+400

Significance

 • In the first option, there is a down payment of $4000 and a monthly payment of $250.
 • In the second option, there is a down payment of $400 and a monthly payment of $400.

Part B

We notice from the graph that after 24 months, the cost for leasing and financing becomes the same ($10,000). Therefore, a consumer will be better off financing since the downpayment for leasing is higher.

i.e

 • When x=0, y=$4000 for leasing
 • When x=0, y=$400 for financing

if BD is perpendicular to AC M angle DBE equals 2x - 1 + m angle CBE equals 5x - 42 find the value of x
Paha777 [63]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

I've drawn a graph in order to a better understanding of this problem. We know that:

BC is perpendicular to AC

∠DBE = 2x - 1

∠CBE = 5x - 42

Let's call the intersection of line BC and AC the point P, so:

∠P=90°

And points B, P and C form the triangle ΔBPC. On the other hand, ∠CBE and ∠PCB are Alternate Interior Angles, so:

∠PCB = ∠CBE = 5x - 42

Moreover:

∠PBC = 2x - 1 - (5x - 42)

∠PBC = 2x - 1 - 5x + 42

∠PBC = -3x + 41

The internal angles of any triangle add up to 180°. Hence for ΔBPC:

90° + ∠PBC + ∠PCB = 180°

90° - 3x + 41 + 5x - 42 = 180°

2x + 89 = 180

2x = 91

x = 45.5°

give an example on an addition problem in which you would and would not group the addends differently to add
Murrr4er [49]
Addends are any of the numbers added together in an equation.

The only time their grouping would matter would be if there were parentheses used to alter the normal Order of Operations.

For ex:
2 - (8 + 3) here, the 8 and 3 have to be grouped together before doing the subtraction.

Any addition problem without parentheses can be used for one where the grouping doesn't matter

Find a linear equation to model this real-world application:
SSSSS [86.1K]

The linear equation to model the company's monthly expenses is y = 2.5x + 3650

Solution:

Let "x" be the units produced in a month

It costs ABC electronics company $2.50 per unit to produce a part used in a popular brand of desktop computers.

Cost per unit = $ 2.50

The company has monthly operating expenses of $350 for utilities and $3300 for salaries

We have to write the linear equation

The linear equation to model the company's monthly expenses in the form of:

y = mx + b

Cost per unit = $ 2.50

Monthly Expenses = $ 350 for utilities and $ 3300 for salaries

Let "y" be the total monthly expenses per month

Then,

Total expenses = Cost per unit(number of units) + Monthly Expenses

y = 2.50(x) + 350 + 3300\\\\y = 2.5x + 3650

Thus the linear equation to model the company's monthly expenses is y = 2.5x + 3650
