The DiMonte Corporation invented a new type of sunglass lens. Their variable expenses are $12.66 per unit, and their fixed expen

ses are $111,200. a. How much does it cost them to produce one lens? 15,000 lenses? b. Express the expense function algebraically. What is the slope of the expense function? c. If the slope is interpreted as a rate, give the units to use. d. What is the average cost, to the nearest cent, of producing 15,000 lenses?e. What is the average cost, to the nearest cent, of producing 17,000 lenses? f. As the number of lenses increased from 15,000 to 17,000, did the average expense per lens increase or decrease?

Answer:

a)one lens: 111,212.66

15000 lenses: 301,100

b)y=111,200+12.66x

slope: 12.66

c)12.66 dollars per unit of lens produced

d) 20.07

e) 19.2

f)decreases

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Cost of producing one lens

fixed expenses+variable expenses=111,200+12.66=111,212.66

Cost of producing 15,000 lenses

fixed expenses+variable expenses=111,200+12.66(15,000)=301,100

b)Expense function:

let y be the expense cost

let x be the number of lenses produced

y=111,200+12.66x

Slope:

The function is  a line equation: y=mx+b where m is the slope.

In this case b=111,200 and m=12.66. So the slope is 12.66

c) the cost increases 12.66 dollars per unit of lens produced

d) The cost of producing 15000 lenses is:

111,200+12.66(15,000)=301,100

If DiMonte produces 15000 lenses, the average cost per lens is:

301,100/15000=20.073≈20.07

e)The cost of producing 17000 lenses is:

111,200+12.66(17,000)=326,420

If DiMonte produces 17000 lenses, the average cost per lens is:

326,420/17,000=19.2

f)The average per lens decrease.

Employment data at a large company reveal that 74% of the workers are married, 42% are college graduates, and that 56% are marri
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

(E) None of these above are true.

Step-by-step explanation:

Married = 74% or 0.74

College graduates = 42% or 0.42

pr(married | college graduates) = 0.56

(A) These events are pairwise disjoint. This is false. Pairwise disjoint are also known as mutually exclusive events. Here we can see that both events are occurring at same time.

(B) These events are independent events. This is also false.

(C) These events are both independent and pairwise disjoint. False

(D) A worker is either married or a college graduate always. False

Here Probability(A or B) shall be 1

= Pr(A) + Pr(B) - Pr( A and B) = 0.74 + 0.42 - 0.56 * 0.42 = 0.9248

This is not equal to 1.

(E) None of these above are true. This is true.

What are the real zeros of the function g(x) = x^3 + 2x^2 − x − 2?
PSYCHO15rus [73]
If there are real roots to be found for this polynomial, the Rational Root Theorem and synthetic division are the best way to find them. I teach from a book that uses c and d for the possible roots of the polynomial.  C is our constant, 2, and d is the leading coefficient, 1.  The factors of 2 are +/- 1 and +/-2.  The factors for 1 are +/-1 only.  Meaning, in all, there are 4 possibilities as roots for this polynomial.  But there are only 3 total (because our polynomial is a third degree), so we have to find the first one, at least, from our possibilities above.  Let's try x = -1, factor form (x + 1).  If there is no remainder when we do the synthetic division, then -1 is a root.  Put -1 outside the "box" and the coefficients from the polynomial inside: -1  (1  2  -1  -2).  Bring down the first coefficient of 1 and multiply it by the -1 outside to get -1.  Put that -1 up under the 2 and add to get 1.  Multiply 1 times the -1 to get -1 and put that -1 up under the -1 and add to get -2.  -1 times -2 is 2, and -2 + 2 = 0.  So we have our first root of (x+1).  The numbers we get when we do the addition along the way are the coefficients of our new polynomial, the depressed polynomial (NOT a sad one cuz it hates math, but a new polynomial that is one degree less than that of which we started!).  The new polynomial is x^{2} +x-2=0.  That can also be factored to find the remaining 2 roots.  Use standard factoring to find that the other 2 solutions are (x+2) and (x-1).  Our solutions then are x = -2, -1, 1, choice B from above.

If DE=4x+10, EF =2x-1, and DF=9x-15, find DF
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

If DE = 4x+10,EF =2X -1, and DF= 9x - 15 find DF

(de + ef ) - df = 2e || 2e/2 = e || ed - e = d || ef - e = f || f + d =  df

de + ef = 6x + 11 || (6x +11) - df = -3x -6 || 2e/2 = -3x/2 - 3  || (-3x/2 - 3) - de = x/2 + 7||  (- 3x/2 - 3) - ef = -x/2 - 1|| d + f = 6
