Pismo Beach, California, has an annual clam festival that includes a clam chowder contest. Judges rate clam chowders from local

restaurants. The judges are not aware of which chowder is from which restaurant when they assign the ratings. One year, much to the dismay of the seafood restaurants on the waterfront, Denny's chowder was declared the winner! (When asked what the ingredients were, the cook at Denny's said he wasn't sure—he just had to add the right amount of nondairy creamer to the soup stock that he got from Denny's distribution center!)
Do you think that Denny’s chowder would have won the contest if the judging had not been "blind?" Explain.
Although this was not an experiment, your answer to Part (a) helps to explain why those measuring the response in an experiment are often blinded. Using your answer in Part (a), explain why experiments are often blinded in this way.

Answer:

Denny's chowder wont have because the winner was picked anonymously without due fact and figure. The judges would have attached a contestant tag to the chowders prepared for the annual clam festival. The winner was declared without any reason to back up that indeed the chowder had been from Denny's chowder

B..1, Experiments are often blinded this way because of the bias of the individual measuring the experiment

2. Also lack of facts and figures to justify results

Step-by-step explanation:

Select the two statements that are true about the equation y−56=4(x+5)y-56=4(x+5).
Sergio [31]

The correct answers are:

The slope of the line is 4.

A point on the line is (−5, 56)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equation is:

y-56=4(x+5)

The slope-intercept form is:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

Comparing both equations we get

m = 4

y-56=y-y_1\\y_1 = 56\\x+5 = x-x_1\\x_1=-5

The point is (-5,56)

So, the correct answers are:

The slope of the line is 4.

A point on the line is (−5, 56)

What is the value of x?
Reika [66]
The bisector of an angle of a triangle divides the opposite side into segments that are proportional to the adjacent sides
VT/TK = VY/YK
95.2/168 = 34/YK
YK = (168·34)/95.2 = 60 cm
x = VY + YK = 34 + 60 = 94 cm

In a science test devi scores 15 marks more than lixin . If devi obtains twice as many marks as lexin . Find the number of marks
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

Lixin obtains 15 marks

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets write two equations based on the question where: <u>D= Devi and L=Lixin</u>

D=L+15 <em>- "devi scores 15 marks more than lixin"</em>

D=2L <em>- "devi obtains twice as many marks as lexin"</em>

Now, substitute 2L as D in the first equation we wrote: (D=L+15)

2L=L+15

Next, subtract L from both sides:

<u>L=15</u>

Suppose that the IQs of university A's students can be described by a normal model with mean 140 and standard deviation 8 poi
AnnZ [28]

Answer:

0.0266, 0.9997,0.7856

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the IQs of university A's students can be described by a normal model with mean 140 and standard deviation 8 points. Also suppose that IQs of students from university B can be described by a normal model with mean 120 and standard deviation 11. Let x be the score by A students and Y the score of B.

A)P(X>135) = \\P(Z>0.625)\\=0.0266

B) Since X and Y are independent we have

X-Y is Normal with mean = 140-120 =20 and Var (x-y)=Var(x)+Var(y) = 19

P(X-Y)>5\\\\=1-0.00029\\=0.9997

C) For a group of 3, average has std deviation = \frac{11}{\sqrt{3} } \\=6.351

P(\bar y >115)\\= P(z>\frac{-5}{6.351} \\=0.7856
