Worldwide quarterly sales of a brand of cell phones were approximately q = −p + 156 million phones when the wholesale price was

$p.
A) If the cell phone company was prepared to supply q = 4p − 394 million phones per quarter at a wholesale price of $p, what would have been the equilibrium price?
B)The actual wholesale price was $105 in the fourth quarter of 2004. Estimate the projected shortage or surplus at that price.

Answer:

a) $110

b) shortage of 25 million phones

Step-by-step explanation:

Quantity demanded (q) = -p + 156

Quantity supplied (q) = 4p - 394

a) at equilibrium, quantity demanded equals quantity supplied

-p+156 = 4p-394

-p-4p = -394 - 156

-5p = -550

p= -550/-5

p = $110

The wholesale price at equilibrium = $110

b) quantity demanded (q) = -p + 156

at p = $105

q = -105 + 156

q = 51 million

Quantity supplied (q) = 4p - 394

at p = $105

q = 4(105) - 394

q = 420 - 394

q = 26 million

Since the quantity supplied is less than quantity demanded , there will be a shortage.

Shortage = 51 - 26

= 25 million phones

If a random variable X is exponentially distributed with parameter λ=2, then P(X≥1) is equal to
Rasek [7]

Answer:

D. 0.1353

B. 0.0473

Step-by-step explanation:

For an exponentially distributed random variable, the cumulative distribution function is:

P(x\leq a) = 1 - e^{-\lambda a}\\P(x\geq a) = e^{-\lambda a}

with parameter λ=2, then P(X≥1) is equal to:

P(x\geq 1) = e^{-2*1}=0.1353

D. 0.1353

with parameter λ=1.5, then P(2≤X≤4) is equal to

P(2\leq x \leq 4) = P(x \leq 4) - P(x\leq 2)\\P(2\leq x \leq 4) =1 - (e^{-1.5*4}) - (1-(e^{-1.5*2}))\\P(2\leq x \leq 4) = 0.0473

B. 0.0473

Find a ⋅ b. a = 8i + 6j, b = 4i + 5j
frutty [35]
You could rewrite this as double brackets, as you are multiplying together two sets of two terms. It would then look like:
(8i + 6j)(4i + 5j)
and you can expand by multiplying together all of the terms

8i × 4i = 32i²
8i × 5j = 40ij
6j × 4i = 24ij
6j × 5j = 30j²

To get your final answer, you then just need to add together all of the like terms, and get 32i² + 30j² + 64ij

I hope this helps!

The table shows the number of candies packed by Machine C. The equation shows the number of candies packed by Machine D. In both
Rashid [163]

Machine C makes 75 candies per minute.

Machine D makes 130 candies per minute.

Difference is 55

55 * 11 minutes = 605 candies.
