(1) x+y+z=1300
(2) x+y=780 => x = 780 - y
(3) y+z=850 => z = 850 - y

Replace x and z with y in function (1)

780 - y + y + 850 - y = 1300
1630 - y = 1300
y = 330

Therefore, x = 780 - y = 780 - 330 = 450
z = 850 - y = 850 - 330 = 520

Dave can do 450 catalog orders per day
Frank can do 330 catalog orders per day
Kathy can do 520 catalog orders per day

SAT Writing scores are normally distributed with a mean of 491 and a standard deviation of 113.A university plans to send letter
Sholpan [36]

Answer:

z=1.405

And if we solve for a we got

a=491 +1.405*113=649.765

So the value of height that separates the bottom 92% of data from the top 8% is 649.765.

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

The Z-score is "a numerical measurement used in statistics of a value's relationship to the mean (average) of a group of values, measured in terms of standard deviations from the mean".

Solution to the problem

Let X the random variable that represent the scores of a population, and for this case we know the distribution for X is given by:

X \sim N(491,113)

Where \mu=491 and \sigma=113

For this part we want to find a value a, such that we satisfy this condition:

P(X>a)=0.08   (a)

P(X   (b)

Both conditions are equivalent on this case. We can use the z score again in order to find the value a.

As we can see on the figure attached the z value that satisfy the condition with 0.92 of the area on the left and 0.08 of the area on the right it's z=1.405. On this case P(Z<1.405)=0.92 and P(z>0.92)=0.08

If we use condition (b) from previous we have this:

P(X

P(z

But we know which value of z satisfy the previous equation so then we can do this:

z=1.405

And if we solve for a we got

a=491 +1.405*113=649.765

So the value of height that separates the bottom 92% of data from the top 8% is 649.765.

Vedmedyk [2.9K]

Answer:

0.63

Step-by-step explanation:

To get the relative frequency of students with red hair, we need to find the relative frequency of students with red hair from the students with gray eyes.

Since we already know that the total number of students with gray eyes is 35 and the number of red hair students with gray eye is 22

The formula we will use to calculate the relative frequency will be

The relative frequency of students with red hair = Total students of red hair with gray eyes divide by total number of gray eye students

22 ÷ 35 = 0.628  ≅ 0.63

(b) A department store has 7,000 charge accounts. The comptroller takes a random sample of 36 of
galben [10]

Answer:

a.0.8664

b. 0.23753

c. 0.15866

Step-by-step explanation:

The comptroller takes a random sample of 36 of the account balances and calculates the standard deviation to be N42.00. If the actual mean (1) of the account balances is N175.00, what is the probability that the sample mean would be between

a. N164.50 and N185.50?

b. greater than N180.00?

c. less than N168.00?

We solve the above question using z score formula

z = (x-μ)/σ/√n where

x is the raw score,

μ is the population mean = N175

σ is the population standard deviation = N42

n is random number of sample = 36

a. Between N164.50 and N185.50?

For x = N 164.50

z = 164.50 - 175/42 /√36

z = -1.5

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x = 164.50) = 0.066807

For x = N185.50

z = 185.50 - 175/42 /√36

z =1.5

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x=185.50) = 0.93319

Hence:

P(x = 185.50) - P(x =164.50)

= 0.93319 - 0.066807

= 0.866383

Approximately = 0.8664

b. greater than N180.00?

x > N 180

Hence:

z = 180 - 175/42 /√36

z = 5/42/6

z = 5/7

= 0.71429

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x<180) = 0.76247

P(x>180) = 1 - P(x<180) = 0.23753

c. less than N168.00?

x < N168.

z = 168 - 175/42 /√36

z = -7/42/6

z = -7/7

z = -1

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x<168) = 0.15866
