Rectangle J K L M is shown. Diagonals are drawn from point J to point L and from point K to point M and intersect in the middle.

All angles are right angles. The length of J M is 12 and the distance from M to the center point is 10.

The perimeter of the rectangle JKLM is 56 units ⇒ 3rd answer

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us revise the properties of a rectangle:

  • Each two opposite sides are parallel and equal
  • The for angles are equal (4 right angles)
  • The two diagonals are equal and bisect each other
  • The center of the rectangle is the point of intersection of the two diagonals

In rectangle JKLM

∵ JL and KM are the two diagonals

∴ JL = KM

∵ The distance from M to the center point is 10 units

- The center point is the mid-point of each diagonal

∴ \frac{1}{2} KM = 10 units

- Divide both sides by \frac{1}{2}

∴ KM = 20 units

∴ JL = 20 units

In Δ JML

∵ m∠JML = 90 ⇒ an angle of the rectangle

∵ JM = 12 units ⇒ given

∵ JL = 20 units ⇒ proved

- By using the Pythagoras theorem (hypotenuse)² = (leg 1)² + (leg 2)²

∵ JM and ML are the legs and JL is the hypotenuse

∴ (20)² = (12)² + (ML)²

∴ 400 = 144 + (ML)²

- Subtract 144 from both sides

∴ 256 = (ML)²

- Take √ for both sides

∴ 16 = ML

∴ The length of ML is 16 units

The formula of the perimeter of a rectangle is P = 2(length + width)

∵ ML is its length

∵ JM is its width

∴ P = 2(16 + 12) = 56 units

The perimeter of the rectangle JKLM is 56 units

You work forty hours a week at a furniture store. You receive a 1,200 dollar weekly salary, plus a 4.1% commision on sales over
Pachacha [2.7K]
If you call x the total value of the sales, the sale over 12,000 will be: g(x) = 12,000 - x.

And the commission is 4.1% of that = 0.041 * (12,000 - x) = 0.041 * g(x)

So, if  f(x) = 0.041x, to calculate the commission you first have to calculate g(x) = 12,000 - x, and the f(g(x))=0.041[12,000 - x].

Which leads you to the solution for the commission as [f o g] (x) = f (g(x)) = 0.041 (12,000 - x).

Answer: [ f o g] (x)

An above-ground swimming pool in the shape of a cylinder has a diameter of 18 feet and a height of 4.5 feet.If the pool is fille
steposvetlana [31]

Answer:

The volume of the water in the pool is 1,017 cubic feet

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The volume of a cylinder is equal to

V=\pi r^{2} h

we have

r=18/2=9\ ft ----> the radius is half the diameter

Remember that

1\ ft=12\ in

so

6\ in=6/12=0.5\ ft

To find out the height of the water, subtract 0.5 feet from the height of the swimming pool

h=4.5-0.5=4\ ft

assume

\pi =3.14

Find the volume of the water

V=(3.14)(9^{2})(4)

V=1,017\ ft^3

Suppose y varies directly with x. If y = –4 when x = 8, what is the equation of direct variation? Complete the steps to write th
Sauron [17]

Answer:

y = -1/2 x

Step-by-step explanation:

Follow the directions "Complete the steps to write the equation of direct variation. Start with the equation of direct variation y = kx. Substitute in the given values for x and y to get . Solve for k to get . Write the direct variation equation with the value found for k."

y = kx substitute y = -4 and x = 8.

-4 = k*8

-4/8 = k

-1/2 = k

So the equation is y = -1/2(x).
