The manager of a computer help desk operation has collected enough data to conclude that the distribution of time per call is no

rmally distributed with a mean equal to 8.21 minutes and a standard deviation of 2.14 minutes. The manager has decided to have a signal system attached to the phone so that after a certain period of time, a sound will occur on her employees' phone if she exceeds the time limit. The manager wants to set the time limit at a level such that it will sound on only 8 percent of all calls. The time limit should be:

Answer:

The time limit should be 11.26 minutes.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that the distribution of time per call is normally distributed with a mean equal to 8.21 minutes and a standard deviation of 2.14 minutes i.e.;

Mean, \mu = 8.21 minutes      and     Standard deviation, \sigma = 2.14 minutes

Also, z score = \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} ~ N(0,1)

It is also given that a sound will occur on her employees' phone if she exceeds the time limit.

Let X = time limit after which sound which occur

The manager wants to set the time limit at a level such that it will sound on only 8 percent of all calls i.e.; P(X > x) = 0.08

    P(X > x) = 0.08   ⇒ P( \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} > \frac{x-8.21}{2.14} ) = 0.08

             ⇒ P(Z > \frac{x-8.21}{2.14} ) = 0.08

In the z table, the critical value which exceeds the area of 0.08 is 1.427 which means;

            ⇒  \frac{x-8.21}{2.14} = 1.427

            ⇒ x = (1.427 * 2.14) + 8.21

            ⇒ x = 11.264 minutes

Therefore, the time limit at a level such that it will sound on only 8 percent of all calls is 11.26 minutes .

I was told that if I had perfect attendance, I would get an extra 4% in my check as a bonus. Therefore, if I earned $960.00 befo
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

Your total income with perfect attendance would be $998.40

Step-by-step explanation:

First you need to figure out how much the 4% bonus is by multiplying 4% by $960.

But first you need to convert 4% to a decimal so it becomes 0.04

Then multiply it by $960 which would get you $38.40

So the 4% bonus is $38.40 but you need to know how much your total income is with the bonus.

So you need to add $38.40 and $960 which will get you $998.40

The total income with perfect attendance would be $998.40

Consider the product (x + y + z)2. If the expression is multiplied out and like terms collected, the result is: x2 + y2 + z2 + 2
VLD [36.1K]

Answer:

Part a: The coefficient of v^9w^2x^5y^7z^2 is 1.766 \times 10^{13}

Part b: The number of terms are 23751.

Step-by-step explanation:

part a

From the given equation the

(x+y+z)^2=x^2+y^2+z^2+2xy+2yz+2zx

So the coefficient of any term x^ny^nz^n is given as

\dfrac{2!}{n!n!n!}

Similarly for the generic equation of coefficient of the term x_1^{r_1}x_2^{r_2}x_3^{r_3}......x_k^{r_k} in the equation of form (x_1+x_2+x_3+x_4......x_k)^n is given as

\dfrac{n!}{r_1!r_2!r_3!....r_k!}

So now the coefficient of v^9w^2x^5y^7z^2  is given as

=\dfrac{25!}{9!2!5!7!2!}\\=1.766 \times 10^{13}

The coefficient of v^9w^2x^5y^7z^2 is 1.766 \times 10^{13}

Part b:

The number of terms is given as \left (\ {{m+n-1} \atop {n}}  \right )

where m is the number of variables which are 5 here

n is the power which is 25 so the number of variables is given as

\left (\ {{5+25-1} \atop {25}}  \right )\\\left (\ {{29} \atop {25}}  \right )\\\dfrac{29!}{25!4!}=23751

So the number of terms are 23751.
