The figure above represents a stick of uniform density that is attached to a pivot at the right end and has equally spaced marks

along its length. Any one or a combination of the four forces shown can be exerted on the stick as indicated. All four forces are exerted on the stick that is initially at rest. What is the angular momentum of the stick after 2.0s ?

Answer:

After 2.0s the  angular momentum is L= 2(4A+3B+2C+D)x

Explanation:

Let us call forces acting on the rod, A, B, C, and D, and the separation between them x .

Then, the  torque due to force A is

\tau_a = 4Ax,

due to the force B

\tau_b = 3Bx,

due to force C

\tau_c = 2Cx,

and the torque due to force D is

\tau_d = Dx.

Therefore, the total torque on the the stick is

\tau_{tot} =\tau_a+\tau_b+\tau_c+\tau_d

\tau_{tot} =4Ax+3Bx+2Cx+Dx

\tau_{tot} =x(4A+3B+2C+D)

Now, this torque causes angular acceleration \alpha according to the equation

I \alpha = \tau_{tot}

where I is moment of inertia of the stick and it has the value

I = \dfrac{1}{3} m(4x)^2

Therefore the angular acceleration is

\alpha = \dfrac{\tau_{tot} }{I}

\alpha =\dfrac{x(4A+3B+2C+D)}{\dfrac{1}{3}m(4x)^2 }

\boxed{\alpha =\dfrac{3(4A+3B+2C+D)}{16mx } .}

Now, the angular momentum L of the stick is

L = I\omega,

where \omega is the angular velocity.

Since \omega = \alpha t, we have

$L = \dfrac{1}{3}m (4x)^2  *\dfrac{3(4A+3B+2C+D)}{16mx }* t$

L= (4A+3B+2C+D)x t

Therefore,   t = 2.0s, the angular momentum is

\boxed{ L= 2(4A+3B+2C+D)x. }

statuscvo [17]

Answer:

37357 sec

or 622 min

or 10.4 hrs

Explanation:

GIVEN DATA:

Lifting weight 80 kg

1 cal = 4184 J

from information given in question we have

one lb fat consist of 3500 calories = 3500 x 4184 J

= 14.644 x 10^6 J

Energy burns in 1 lift = m g h

                                  = 80 x 9.8 x 1 = 784 J

lifts required = \frac{(14.644 x 10^6)}{784}

                      = 18679

from the question,

1 lift in 2 sec.

so, total time = 18679 x 2 = 37357 sec

or 622 min

Answer:

<em>a) 318.2 W/m^2</em>

<em>b) 2.5 x 10^-4 J</em>

<em>c) 1.55 x 10^-8 v/m</em>

<em></em>

Explanation:

Power of laser P = 1 mW = 1 x 10^-3 W

exposure time t = 250 ms = 250 x 10^-3 s

If beam diameter = 2 mm = 2 x 10^-3 m

then

cross-sectional area of beam A = \pi d^{2} /4 = (3.142 x (2*10^{-3} )^{2})/4

A = 3.142 x 10^-6 m^2

a) Intensity I = P/A

where P is the power of the laser

A is the cros-sectional area of the beam

I = ( 1 x 10^-3)/(3.142 x 10^-6) = <em>318.2 W/m^2</em>

<em></em>

b) Total energy delivered E = Pt

where P is the power of the beam

t is the exposure time

E = 1 x 10^-3 x 250 x 10^-3 = <em>2.5 x 10^-4 J</em>

<em></em>

c) The peak electric field is given as

E = \sqrt{2I/ce_{0} }

where I is the intensity of the beam

E is the electric field

c is the speed of light = 3 x 10^8 m/s

e_{0} = 8.85 x 10^9 m kg s^-2 A^-2

E = \sqrt{2*318.2/3*10^8*8.85*10^9}  = <em>1.55 x 10^-8 v/m</em>

Lorico [155]
Fire extinguishers are typically red. Goes along with the red fire trucks and red being a color of emergency. While there isn't any standard, if we decided to change the colors of the fire extinguisher, people would be very confused and given the context, it could cost people's lives, so I'm thinking red will be the color of fire extinguishers for a while to come.
