Suppose that a disk drive has 2,000 cylinders numbered 0 to 1999. The drive is currently serving a request at cylinder 142, and

the previous request was at cylinder 125. The queue of pending requests in FIFO order is:
86, 1470, 913, 1774, 948, 1509, 1022, 1750, 130.

Starting from the current head position, what is the total distance (in cylinders) that the disk arm moves to satisfy all the pending requests for the following disk scheduling algorithm Scan

Answer:

7080

Explanation:

Let totaldistanceincylinders (total seek distance)=x=0

Its

     142-86=56                  x=56

      1470-86=1384                      x= 56+ 1384=1440

      1470-913= 557             x= 1440+557= 1997

      1774-913=861                    x= 1997+ 861=2858

      1774-948= 826              x=2858+826=3684

      1509-948=561             x=3684+561=4245

      1509-1022=    487        x=4245+487=4732

      1750-1022=728          x=4732+728=5460

      1750-130=1620          x=5460+1620=7080

       hence, total distance in cylinders = 7080

This is the total seek distance.

Ghella [55]

Answer:

The answer to this question is given below in the explanation section.

Explanation:

The correct answer to this question is an online decision support system. Because the decision support systems process the data, evaluate and predict the decision, and helps the decision-makers,  and offer real-time information immediately in making the decision in an organization. So the correct answer to this question is the decision supports system.

Why other options are not correct

Because the transaction processing system can only process the transaction and have not the capability to make the decision for the future. Office support processing system support office work, while the batch processing system process the task into the batch without user involvement.   however, online executive processing does not make decisions and offer timely information to decision-makers in an organization.

Sending potentially sensitive information by email

Potentially sensitive information can be sent via Email only if the Email is encrypted

Explanation:

No doubt Email is an inexpensive efficient means of communicating quickly. But it is prone to hacking and it is not a secure mechanism. In order to add security ,the Email needs to be sent in an encrypted form. Banking and HIPAA regulations require the emails to be sent in encrypted form as it is a secure mechanism. Even if one has the consent from the client , the Email has to be in encrypted. Even if the Organization's e-mail system has appropriate firewalls and related infrastructure , the golden rule is to send encrypted format Emails.

Svetlanka [38]

Answer: Vulnerability of

Explanation:

The network administrator was able to identify that virus before it led to denial of service to users. Since it has been discovered, it is no longer a threat as measures will be taken to eliminate it. But a virus that was successful uploaded shows how vulnerable the system is or how bad the security protections put in place are. Steps has to be taken to ensure it does not reoccur.

Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

1)

officeAC = new AirConditioner();

officeAC.turnOn();

2)

officeAC = new AirConditioner();

officeAC.turnOn();

officeAC.setTemp(69);

Explanation:

1)

In the first statement a new object of the class AirConditioner whose reference is assigned to the officeAC. new is a keyword which creates an object of the class.

Next statement uses the method turnOn(). Reference to the new object officeAC is used to invoke this method turnOn().

2) The first two statements works the same as in 1)

The last statement invokes a method setTemp() using the reference variable and passes the value 69 to this method to set the desired temperature.
