Laureano has a strong preference for Honda over all other car brands. When it came time to buy a new car, however, there was a p

romotion that offered a very small discount on Nissans and Laureano elected to buy a Nissan, even though he likes Hondas a lot better. What is the most likely reason why Laureano would experience dissonance in the wake of this behavior (buying the Nissan instead of a Honda)?

Answer:

The behavior was freely chosen

Explanation:

Cognitive dissonance describes a phenomenon involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors. In psychology, cognitive dissonance is where one holds contradictory beliefs, ideas or values. This is seen in the above example where Laureano in spite of her strong preference for Honda still goes ahead to buy a Nissan. She would experience dissonance since she had not gone for the car of her preference and instead goes for a Nissan.

Imagine your local city council is considering a city-wide curfew in response to a recent increase in crimes committed by teens.
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]

Creating a curfew for overcoming the increase in crimes committed by teens is a viable option but not for the long term. Avoiding teens to be on the streets at night could result in a temporary reduction on crime, but there are several crimes that could be committed hidden on houses or other abandoned places. A more plausible option would be to reinforce police surveillance and of course, creating jobs for teens to encourage them to be responsible and valuable for society.

An associate tells you she thinks she saw a customer shoplifting. She points out the customer to you who is headed for the door.
wlad13 [49]

Answer:

You tell the costumer to stop. Then, you check all their pockets and make a body check. If you find something, report it to police. There's usually a cop or guard at stores like target. If you don't find anything, then you just tell them THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION. HAVE A NICE DAY. That's it.
