Direct Mailing Company sells computers and computer parts by mail. The company claims that at least 90% of all orders are mailed

within 72 hours after they are received. The quality control department at the company often takes samples to check if this claim is valid. A recently taken sample of 150 orders showed that 115 of them were mailed within 72 hours. What are the decision and conclusion of test? Use α=2.5%.

Answer:

We conclude that less than 90% of all orders are mailed within 72 hours after they are received.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that the company claims that at least 90% of all orders are mailed within 72 hours after they are received.

A recently taken sample of 150 orders showed that 115 of them were mailed within 72 hours.

<u><em>Let p = proportion of orders that are mailed within 72 hours after they are received.</em></u>

So, Null Hypothesis, H_0 : p \geq 90%      {means that at least 90% of all orders are mailed within 72 hours after they are received}

Alternate Hypothesis, H_A : p < 90%      {means that less than 90% of all orders are mailed within 72 hours after they are received}

The test statistics that would be used here <u>One-sample z proportion statistics</u>;

                    T.S. =  \frac{\hat p-p}{\sqrt{\frac{\hat p(1-\hat p)}{n} } }  ~ N(0,1)

where, \hat p = sample proportion of orders that were mailed within 72 hours = \frac{115}{150} = 0.767

           n = sample of orders = 150

So, <u><em>test statistics</em></u>  =  \frac{0.767-0.90}{\sqrt{\frac{0.767(1-0.767)}{150} } }

                              =  -3.853

The value of z test statistics is -3.853.

<em>Now, at 2.5% significance level the z table gives critical value of -1.96 for left-tailed test.</em><em> Since our test statistics is less than the critical values of z as -3.853 < -1.96, so we have sufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis as it will fall in the rejection region due to which </em><em><u>we reject our null hypothesis</u></em><em>.</em>

Therefore, we conclude that less than 90% of all orders are mailed within 72 hours after they are received.

The simplest way to do this is to set up equivalent fractions. So, you'd do:

\frac{3}{2} = \frac{78}{x} and then solve for x.

The R.R. Bowker Company of New York collects data on annual subscription rates to periodicals. Results are published in Library
Igoryamba

Answer:

90%

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's call the percentage of students that read Time magazine by P(T), and the percentage of students that read U.S News and World Report by P(U). So, we have that:

P(T) = 0.63

P(U) = 0.51

P(T and U) = 0.24

To find the percentage of students that read either the Time magazine or the U.S.News and World Report magazine (that is, P(T or U)), we can use this formula:

P(T or U) = P(T) + P(U) - P(T and U)

So, we have that:

P(T or U) = 0.63 + 0.51 - 0.24 = 0.90

So the probability is 90%

Which descriptions from the list below accurately describe the relationship between QRS and TUV? Check all that apply.
valentina_108 [34]

Definition: Triangles are congruent when they have  exactly the same three sides and exactly the same three angles.

From the diagram you have that:

  • m\angle Q=m\angle T=50^{\circ}
  • m\angle R=m\angle U=83^{\circ}
  • m\angle S=m\angle V=47^{\circ}
  • QR=TU=22
  • RS=UV=23
  • QS=TV=30

Triangles QRS and TUV have congruent corresponding sides and congruent corresponding angles. This means they are congruent triangles. Congruent triangles always have the same shape and the same size. Also each pair of congruent triangles is a pair of similar triangles with ratio of similarity equal to 1.

nordsb [41]

Answer: Stratified sampling

Step-by-step explanation:

Stratified sampling is a random sampling method in which the population is divided into non-coinciding groups are called strata and a sample is picked out by some design within each stratum.

Given: A researcher wants to survey people from different age groups to analyze voting patterns.

Thus he will make different groups according to different ages to analyze voting patterns that are called stratum.

Thus, Stratified sampling best accomplish this goal.
