Answer:

To focus more on other aspects of the characters and not to put ethnics as a determining factor.

Explanation:

Harper provides no racial dimension to the characters, and the thematic purpose of the story is to challenge contradictions inherent in social values regarding women's roles and to offer an alternative to those conventions and traditions.

Harper chose not to reveal that the cousins are African-American in order to avoid having them judged according to stereotypes. Most characters in American fiction (novels, short stories, even movies) are white, and therefore unless the reader receives a clear signal that a character is not white he or she will proceed as if it were. By not revealing the ethnicity of her characters, Harper plays with the readers expectationns and prejudices.

Explain how the way Charlie’s character changes makes the plot go in a circle. Think about where Charlie starts and where he end
HACTEHA [7]

If the character starts and ends in the same place, the plot has gone in a circle. For example, if Charlie was having problems with his teacher at the beginning of the story, and the story talks about the many weeks he has tried to fix these problems, yet the story ends with him still not resolving these problems, the plot had gone in a circle. There is not resolution, no ending, no fix.

so from what i understand... my discussion. In our Christian language, we may prefer to call volunteering, serving. Service moves from mere physical motions to human action (Wuthnow 1991: 45). Service incorporates all aspects of our humanity, instead of just the physical need at hand. Love, justice, compassion, action, presence, and understanding embody the cultural framework of Christian service, to which this human action refers. Service goes a step further than volunteering one's free afternoon to dish out food at a local soup kitchen....

malfutka [58]
Utilitarian must mean useful and practical.
As you can see in the excerpt above, it says that writers such as Franklin, Paine, Jefferson, and their contemporaries, wrote fiction which served a particular purpose, as opposed to other writers who only wanted to entertain the masses. So, their purpose was not to entertain, therefore fun oriented is wrong here.
