The musicians refuse to play music when Peter asks because they feel it is too sad a day to play.

In Act IV Scene IV of the play “Romeo and Juliet” the Capulets were busy in the preparation of the wedding of Juliet and Paris. Friar Laurence informs them that Juliet has left the world and had gone to a better place. The musicians who were present to add to the celebration stopped to play the music. Peter asked them to play the music so as minimize the grief but they negated to sing any song on such mournful day.
