The aquarium at Sea Critters Depot contains 140 fish. Eighty of these fish are green swordtails (44 female and 36 male) and 60 a

re orange swordtails (36 female and 24 males.). A fish is randomly captured from the aquarium: a. What is the probability the selected fish is a green swordtail? B. Given that:

Total number of fish = 140

Fish are green swordtails female = 44

Fish are green swordtails male = 36

Fish are orange swordtails female = 36

Fish are orange swordtails male = 24

Solution:

A. We have to find the probability that the selected fish is a green swordtail.

\text{P(green swordtail)}=\dfrac{\text{Total green swordtail fish}}{\text{Total fish}}

\text{P(green swordtail)}=\dfrac{80}{140}

\text{P(green swordtail)}=\dfrac{4}{7}

Therefore, the probability that the selected fish is a green swordtail is \dfrac{4}{7}.

B.  We have to find the probability that the selected fish is male.

\text{P(Male fish)}=\dfrac{\text{Total male fish}}{\text{Total fish}}

\text{P(Male fish)}=\dfrac{36+24}{140}

\text{P(Male fish)}=\dfrac{60}{140}

\text{P(Male fish)}=\dfrac{3}{7}

Therefore, the probability that the selected fish is a male, is \dfrac{3}{7}.

C. We have to find the probability that the selected fish is a male green swordtail.

\text{P(Male green swordtail)}=\dfrac{\text{Total male green swordtail fish}}{\text{Total fish}}

\text{P(Male green swordtail)}=\dfrac{36}{140}

\text{P(Male green swordtail)}=\dfrac{9}{35}

Therefore, probability that the selected fish is a male green swordtail is \dfrac{9}{35}.

D.

We have to find the probability that the selected fish is either a male or a green swordtail.

\text{P(Male or green swordtail)}=\dfrac{\text{Total male or green swordtail fish}}{\text{Total fish}}

\text{P(Male or green swordtail)}=\dfrac{44+36+24}{140}

\text{P(Male or green swordtail)}=\dfrac{96}{140}

\text{P(Male or green swordtail)}=\dfrac{24}{35}

Therefore, the probability the selected fish is either a male or a green swordtail is \dfrac{24}{35}.

forsale [732]

Answer:

a) P(x) = 0.67

b)  P(y) = 0.67

c) P(x=4) = 0.3325

d) P( x = 0 ) = 0.0039

e) The fact that the rise and fall of the stock market relies on market sentiments violates independence used in Binomial distribution and the years are independent

Step-by-step explanation:

A) The probability that the stock market will rise next year = P(x) = 0.67

assuming next year to be X

B) Probability that the stock market will rise the year after next year

= P(y) = 0.67 and this is because the probability is independent of that of the previous years

C) Probability that the stock market will rise in four of the next five years

= P(x=4) = 0.3325

D) probability that the stock market will rise in none of the next five years

A business shows a profit of $110 for selling 20 leather wallets. How much profit would the business make if they sold 35 wallet
NeX [460]

Answer:

Sales of 35 leather wallets will give profit of $192.5

Step-by-step explanation:

If sales of 20 leather wallet gives $110

Sales of 35 leather wallet gives x

Cross multiply

20x = 110 x 35

20x = 3850

Divide both sides by 20

x = 3850/20

x = $192.5

Javier asks his mother how old a tree in their yard is. His mother says, “The sum of 10 and two-thirds of that tree’s age, in ye
sdas [7]

Answer:

10 + (\frac{2}{3}) a = 50 is the CORRECT equation.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given question is INCOMPLETE.

Javier asks his mother how old a tree in their yard is. His mother says, “The sum of 10 and two-thirds of that tree’s age, in years, is equal to 50.” Javier writes the equation { 10 + 2/3} where a is the tree’s age in years. His equation is not correct. What error did he make?

Now here:

a:  The tree’s age in years.

Also,  “The sum of 10 and two-thirds of that tree’s age, in years, is equal to 50.”

⇒ 10 +  two-thirds of that tree’s age  = 50

\implies 10 + (\frac{2}{3}) a = 50

But in the equation written by Javier, the the third fraction is NOT MULTIPLIED by the age of the tree a in Years.

So, the written equation by Javier is Incorrect.

Now, solving the written correct equation for the value of a, we get:

\implies 10 + (\frac{2}{3}) a = 50\\\implies  (\frac{2}{3}) a = 40\\\implies a = 40 \times  (\frac{3}{2})  = 60\\\implies a  = 60

Hence the correct  age of the tree = 60 years

In the problems below, f(x) = log₂x and
kramer

Answer:

(1,0)

Step-by-step explanation:

The given functions are:

f(x) = log₂x

and

g(x) = log₁₀x

We know that logarithm of 1 is always zero.

This means that irrespective of the base, the y-values of both functions will be equal to 0 at x=1

Therefore the point the graphs of f and g have in common is (1,0)
