Dakota mixes two cereals for breakfast. One gram of cereal A has 6 milligrams of sodium and 7 calories. One gram of cereal B has

8 milligrams of sodium and 5 calories. She wants the bowl of cereal to contain no more than 200 milligrams of sodium and 150 calories. Let "a" equal the number of grams of cereal A and "b" equal the number of grams in cereal B, where are "a" > 0 and "b" > 0. Which system of inequalities represents the possible ways Dakota can mix the cereals.

Number of grams of cereal A = a

Number of grams of cereal B = b

One gram of Cereal A has: 6 mg of sodium and 7 calories

One gram of Cereal A has: 8 mg of sodium and 5 calories

We need to make sure that the cereal contains maximum 200 mg sodium

⇒ Number of grams of cereal A × Sodium quantity in a gram of cereal A + Number of grams of cereal B × Sodium quantity in a gram of cereal B <= 200 mg

Substituting the required values

⇒ a×6 + b×8 <=200

Further simplifying the above equation

⇒ a×3 + b×4 <=100

Further, we need to make sure that the cereal contains maximum 150 calories

⇒ Number of grams of cereal A × Calories in a gram of cereal A + Number of grams of cereal B × Calories in a gram of cereal B <= 150

⇒ a×7 + b×5 <=150

Hence, the system of inequalities that represents the possible mix is:

a×3 + b×4 <=100 AND a×7 + b×5 <=150

area for the hexagon = 1/2*p*a

p = perimeter = 18*6=108

a = apothem = 15.59

108*15.59 = 1683.72/2 = 841.86 sq units

Area of rectangle = 18 x 21 = 378

841.86-378 = 463.86 rounded to 464 square units

lana66690 [7]

Answer:

He set the compass on a, with the width slightly wider than the distance to o and drew an arc above and below o. He then set the compass on b, without changing the width on the compass and did the same thing. True

He drew a line through where the arc pairs intersected and then labeled the points where this line crossed the top and bottom of the original circle. True

He set the compass on o, with the width slightly wider than the distance to b, and he drew a slightly larger circle around the original circle. False

He used the points that were marked along the circumference of the original circle as the vertices for the square. True

Kathy and her brother Clay recently ran in a local marathon. The distribution of finishing time for women was approximately norm
natima [27]

Answer:

a) Clay's marathon time is 1.62 standard deviations above the mean finishing time for men.

b) 69.51% of those who ran the marathon has a finishing time less than 272.

c) The spread in the distribution of women's finishing time is greater as compared to the spread in the distribution of men's finishing time.

Step-by-step explanation:

Part a) It was given that, the finishing time for Clay's marathon time is 289 minutes.

To calculate the standardized test score for Clay's marathon time, we use the formula:

z =  \frac{x -  \mu}{ \sigma}

where

x = 289

\mu = 242

and

\sigma = 29

We substitute the values into the formula to get:

z =  \frac{289 - 242}{29}  = 1.62

Interpretation: Clay's marathon time is 1.62 standard deviations above the mean finishing time for men.

b) To calculate the proportion of women that had a finishing time less than Kathy , we again need to calculate the z-score for x=272, with mean for women being 259 minutes and standard deviation 32 minutes.

We substitute to get:

z =  \frac{272 - 259}{32}  = 0.41

From the standard normal distribution table, P(z<0.41)=0.6951

Therefore 69.51% of those who ran the marathon has a finishing time less than 272.

c) The standard deviation measures the variation of a distribution. This means the standard deviation measures how far away the data set of a distribution are from the mean.

If the standard deviation of finishing time is greater for women than for men, then it indicates that, women's finishing time are far away from the mean finishing time as compared to men's finishing time.
