Answer and Explanation:

A jaw might provide you much information about its function and about the animal´s adaptations to different scenarios. These structures are very useful in characterizing a group as a new species. Of course, there are many other factors to consider as well.

When you are working with the mandibles of different known species and the mandible of a new species, and you need to get information about the species behavior, such as its diet, you need to compare all the pieces involved in the feeding act. This is,

  • Teeth. Teeth are the most evolved pieces in animals, and thus, provide important information about species. They are very important in taxonomic identification and phylogeny. Animals might be homodont or heterodont, which means that all teeth are equal, or there are different kinds of teeth with different functions. According to the diet, teeth vary in shape, and thus you can find herbivore teeth, carnivore teeth, omnivore teeth. The number of teeth might also vary according to the feeding strategy and the diet of the animal.
  • Processes. The shape of the mandible is another very important component. The sizes of processes might provide information about muscular development, and through this knowledge, you can assume the importance of the mandible while feeding, and the strategies used to feed according to their diet. Animals might develop different muscles that are more or less useful while feeding on different prey. Processes are the insertion point of these muscles, so according to their size, you might estimate the muscle mass, and thus, the muscle use.
  • Length. The mandibular length of many species is correlated with their prey and feeding strategy. By meassuring the ramus you might also infer the diet.

So, in any case, if you have many jaws belonging to different known species and you also know what is the principal diet of these species, then all you need to do is to compare the teeth, processes, and sizes of your new species with the ones of the known species. By comparing all these structures you will have strong evidence of your species diet.

Amphiarthrodial joints display ___ movement than synarthrodial joints.
Misha Larkins [42]
The answer to this question would be more movement.

The amphiarthrodial joint is a joint that you will found in the rib cage. This joint doesn't have a synovial cavity and only allow a little movement.
But synarthrodial joints movement is practically zero. The example for synarthrodial joint would be suture in your skull. Skull joint in adult can't move so its volume can't be changed.

When making yogurt, bacteria and milk are mixed together and set in a warm area. The container is sealed and no gasses are allow
Ivenika [448]

Answer:

When making yogurt the tart flavor get in the end is more likely because the bacteria have carried out a type of respiration named lactic acid fermentation (option C).

Explanation:

The process of obtaining yogurt from whole milk involves the association of the bacterial species Streptococcus and Lactobacillus. In order to carry out the lactic acid fermentation that produces yogurt, the bacteria act in a different way:

  1. Streptococcus is in charge of removing the oxygen from the milk product.
  2. Lactobacillus promotes the conversion of lactose sugar into lactic acid.

This fermentation process leads to the conversion of milk into a coagulated and tart flavor product.

Other options are not correct because:

     A. Photosynthesis : is the process that occurs in plants to obtain chemical energy from sunlight.

      B. Alcoholic fermentation: in this chemical process alcohol is obtained from the fermentation of a sugar.

      D. Aerobic cellular respiration: does not involve fermentation, but the series of processes that convert glucose into energy.

Which situation describes parasitism?
skad [1K]

Answer:

D. Ticks live on and drink blood from a cow.

This is an example of parasitism, where the ticks (parasite) are living off of the blood of the cow, the host animal.

Explanation:

Parasitism is a relationship between organisms. In this relationship, one organism (parasite) lives on or in another organism (host) and gains benefits from the host, causing it some harm.

Parasites are classified as ectoparasites, which live on the body surface of the host (ticks, fleas, leeches, and lice) and endoparasites, which live in the body of the host. Endoparasites are either intercellular, which live inside the host’s body (round worms, tapeworms) or intracellular, which live inside the cells in the host’s body (bacteria or viruses).

Parasites help to control dominant species and has a role in evolution by transferring genetic material between species.
