A restaurant owner plans to use x tables seating 4, y tables seating 6, and z tables seating 8, for a total of 20 tables. When f

ully occupied, the tables seat 108 customers. If only half of the x tables, half of the y tables, and one-fourth of the z tables are used, each fully occupied, then 46 customers will be seated. Find x, y, and z

Answer:

x = 10, y = 6 and z = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we can form simultaneous equations of 3 variables.

Since the total tables is 20, then

x + y + z = 20

If fully occupied, x tables seating 4 will be occupied by 4x customers, y tables seating 6 will be occupied by 6y customers and z tables seating 8 will be occupied by 8z customers. Since we are told that if they occupy the tables with their seating, we will have a total of 108 customers. This gives the equation

4x + 6y + 8z = 108.

From th last statement "if only half ..." We can form the following equation:

(4x)/2 + (6y)/2 + (8z)/4 = 46.

From these we have the equations (after simplifying) to be:

x + y + z = 20 -------------- 1

2x + 3y + 4z = 54 ----------- 2

2x + 3y + 2z = 46 ----------- 3

In order to solve these equations, let's subtract eqn 3 from 2, we have:

2z = 8

z = 4

Putting z = 4 in eqn 1 and eqn 2

We have:

x + y = 16 ----------- 4

2x + 3y = 38 -------- 5

To solve these eqns, multiply eqn 4 by 2 and eqn 5 by 1.

4 x 2 : 2x + 2y = 32 ----------- 6

5 x 1 : 2x + 3y = 38 ------------ 7

Let's subtract eqn 6 from eqn 7, we have:

y = 6. Substituting y = 6 and z = 4 in eqn 1, we have x = 10.

Therefore, x = 10, y = 6 and z = 4

If AB = 13, BC = 9, and CA = 17, list the angles of ABC in order from smallest to largest.
svp [43]

Across the largest side is going to be largest angle, and across the smallest side -smallest angle.

Sides:

BC = 9 < AB = 13 < CA = 17.

Angles that are across sides: A < C < B.

What is the domain of the square root function graphed below ?
Serhud [2]

The graph shows that x never becomes < 0. In other words the point (-1,0) is not part of the graph. So D is your only answer.

A point x is 34m due to east of a point Y . The bearing of a flagpole from x and Y are N18°W And N40°E respectively .
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

The distance of flag post from Y is 38.13 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider point Y at the intersection of both lines as shown below. Now the point X lies 34 meter from point Y in east direction.

Now flag pole at point X lies at a bearing of N18°W. That is at point X from north, flag post makes an angle of 18° towards west.

Similarly flag pole at point Y lies at a bearing of N40°E. That is at point Y from north, flag post makes an angle of 40° towards east.

Consider ∆ AXY as right angle triangle. Therefore measure of angle FXY is,

\angle AXY=\angle AXF+\angle FXY

\therefore 90 \degree=18\degree+\angle FXY

\angle FXY=72\degree

Consider ∆ BYX as right angle triangle. Therefore measure of angle FYX is,

\angle BYX=\angle BYF+\angle FYX

\therefore 90 \degree=40\degree+\angle FYX

\angle FYX=50\degree

Refer attachment 1.

From diagram consider the triangle FYX. To find the third angle that is ∠YFX can be calculated by using angle sum property of triangle.

∠YFX+∠FYX+∠FXY=180°

∠YFX+50°+72°=180°

∠YFX=58°

Refer attachment 2.

Now the distance FY can be calculated using sin rule as follows,

\frac{\sin X}{FY}=\frac{\sin F}{YX}=\frac{\sin Y}{FX}

Substituting the values,

\frac{\sin 72}{FY}=\frac{\sin 58}{34}=\frac{\sin 50}{FX}

Simplifying first two terms,

\frac{\sin 72}{FY}=\frac{\sin 58}{34}

Cross multiplying,

34\times\sin 72=FY\times \sin 58

\dfrac{34\times\sin 72}{\sin 58}=FY

FY=38.13 m

Given: EL- tangent, EK- secant <br> Prove: EJ·LK = EL·LJ
drek231 [11]

Answer:

This is possible.

Step-by-step explanation:

We can say that m<E=m<E, because of the Reflexive Property

Then, we have angles JKL and ELJ, which are equal through the peripheral angle theorem.

With these two angles, we can say that triangles ELK and EJL are similar, by the Angle-Angle Postulate (AA).

Then we can create this ratio through the Corresponding Parts of Similar Triangles Theorem, (CPST), \frac{LK}{LJ} =\frac{EL}{EJ}.

With this ratio, we can cross multiply to get the desired result

EJ·LK=EL·LJ

Hope this helps with your RSM problem

A rectangle has a length of (3.2a + 0.18b)centimeters.The width is half the length. Sasha writes the expression (12.8a + 0.72b)
jeka94
The width is half the length, so is
  width = (1/2)*length
  width = (1/2)*(<span>3.2a + 0.18b) cm
  width = (1.6a +0.09b) cm

The perimeter of the rectangle is twice the sum of length and width.
  perimeter = 2*(length + width)
  perimeter = 2*((3.2a +0.18b) cm + (1.6a +0.09b) cm)
  perimeter = 2*(4.8a +0.27b) cm)
  perimeter = (9.6a +0.54b) cm
