Answer:

  • (a) 10, (b) 21, (c) 8, (d) 255, (e) 25

Step-by-step explanation:

(a)Total number of candies = 120

<u>The number of candies in the rows form AP sequence:</u>

  • 3, 5, 7, ...

The first term is a=3 and common difference is d=2

<u>Sum of n terms:</u>

  • S = 1/2n(2a + (n - 1)d)

<u>Substitute values and solve for n:</u>

  • 120 = 1/2n(2*3 + 2(n - 1))
  • 120 = 3n + n² - n
  • n² + 2n = 120
  • n²+ 2n + 1 = 121
  • (n + 1)² = 121
  • n + 1 = 11
  • n = 10

Correct choice is (ii) 10

(b) <u>Formula for nth term:</u>

  • a(n) = a + (n - 1)d
  • a(10) = 3 + 9*2 = 3 + 18 = 21 candies

Correct choice is (ii) 21

(c) <u>Use same formula:</u>

  • a(7) - a(3) = a + 6d - a - 2d = 4d
  • 4d = 4*2 = 8

Correct choice is (i) 8

(d) Sum of candies in 15 rows

  • S(15) = 1/2(15)(2*3 + (15 - 1)*2) = 1/2(15)(6 + 28) = 255

Correct choice is (iii) 255

(e) <u>Number of candies in 12th row:</u>

  • a(12) = 3 + (12 - 1)*2 = 3 + 22 = 25

Correct choice is (iii) 25

3 x 1/6 in simplest form
Travka [436]
Im not sure but i thing its 0.5 or 1/2
cause if you take (3/1)*(1/6) that's what you will get
also you had to make 3 as a fraction so you would put the denominator as 1 so if you divide 1 and 3 you would still get the whole number as 3

Papessa [141]

Answer: m>8

Mustafa could have written more than 8 articles for the newspaper.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Heloise has written 1/4 as many articles as Mustafa has. Gia has written 3/2 as many articles as Mustafa has.

Let m be the number of articles Mustafa writes.

Then articles written by Heloise=\frac{1}{4}m

And articles written by Gia=\frac{3}{2}m

The total number of articles =m+\frac{1}{4}m+\frac{3}{2}m=\frac{4m+m+6m}{4}=\frac{11m}{4}

Mustafa, Heloise, and Gia have written more than a combined total of 22 articles for the school newspaper.

\frac{11m}{4}>22\\\Rightarrow\ m>\frac{22\times4}{11}\\\Rightarrow\ m>8

Hence, Mustafa could have written more than 8 articles for the newspaper.

X = 0 ; y = 10 ; 10 = a(0) + b(0) + c
c = 10

x=2 ; y = 15 ; 15 = a(4) + b(2) + 10 ; 5 = 4a+2b
x=4 ; y=18 ; 18 = a(16) + b(4) + 10 ; 8 = 16a + 4b

2(5) = (4a+2b)2
-
 <u>   8 = 16a + 4b
</u>    2 = -8a

a = -0.25

b = 2

y = (1/4)x^2 + 2x + 10 ; 4y = x^2 + 8x + 40
