Traverion wants to find the answer to the question “How much money does the average college professor make?” He surveys 50 profe

ssors from the university in his hometown. Which best describes whether or not the results of his survey would represent the responses from the entire population of college professors?
The results do not represent the population because not all college professors actually responded.
The results do not represent the population because the sample does not represent professors from different areas.
The results represent the population because the sample contained college professors and the population is college professors.
The results represent the population because he sampled a large number of professors.

Answer: I'm pretty sure it's the second option, The results do not represent the population because the sample does not represent professors from different areas.

Step-by-step explanation: It wants the average pay of professors everywhere,not the average of that specific college. I hope this helps sorry if I'm wrong :)

the time taken by a student to the university has been shown to be normally distributed with mean of 16 minutes and standard dev
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

a) 2.84% probability that he is late for his first lecture.

b) 5.112 days

Step-by-step explanation:

When the distribution is normal, we use the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this question, we have that:

\mu = 16, \sigma = 2.1

a. Find the probability that he is late for his first lecture.

This is the probability that he takes more than 20 minutes to walk, which is 1 subtracted by the pvalue of Z when X = 20. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{20 - 16}{2.1}

Z = 1.905

Z = 1.905 has a pvalue of 0.9716

1 - 0.9716 = 0.0284

2.84% probability that he is late for his first lecture.

b. Find the number of days per year he is likely to be late for his first lecture.

Each day, 2.84% probability that he is late for his first lecture.

Out of 180

0.0284*180 = 5.112 days

What are the quotient and remainder when a) 19 is divided by 7? b) −111 is divided by 11? c) 789 is divided by 23? d) 1001 is di
Dennis_Churaev [7]

Answer:

a) quotient = 2,  remainder = 5

b) quotient = -10,  remainder = -1

c) quotient = 34,  remainder = 7

d) quotient = 77,  remainder = 0

e) quotient = 0,  remainder = 0

f) quotient = 0,  remainder = 3

g) quotient = 0,  remainder = -1

h) quotient = 4,  remainder = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

The relationship between the quotient, remainder and divisor is that the product of the quotient and divisor added to the reminder gives the dividend.

Based on this, when

a)19 is divided by 7 = 19/7

= 2\frac{5}{7}

Hence the quotient is 2, the remainder is 5

Applying the same principle, when

b) −111 is divided by 11

= -10\frac{1}{11}

Hence the quotient is -10, the remainder is -1

c) 789 is divided by 23

=34\frac{7}{23}

Hence the quotient is 34, the remainder is 7

d) 1001 is divided by 13

= 77

Hence the quotient = 77, the remainder is 0

e) 0/19 = 0

Hence the quotient is 0, the remainder is 0

f) 3/5

Hence the quotient is 0, the remainder is 3

g) -1/3

Hence the quotient is 0, the remainder is -1

h) 4/1

Hence the quotient is 4, the remainder is 0

Six pairs of socks cost as much as 1 coat, 2 pairs of jeans cost as much as 3 pairs of shoes, and 4 pairs of socks cost as much
REY [17]
(1) 6 pairs of socks = 1 coat
(2) 2 pairs of jeans = 3 pairs of shoes
(3) 4 pairs of socks = 1 pair of jeans

the last two points are irrelevant becuase we just need socks and coats.
6 pairs of socks are equal to 1 coat.
we need 64 pairs of socks.
so, 64 ÷ 6 = 10.67

so we'll need 10.67 coats for 64 pairs of socks.

i'm not sure if you've typed up the correct numbers becuase i don't think the answer would be expressed as a decimal.

unless we say that we need 11 pairs of coats?

perhaps reread the question again and make sure you've typed it up correctly
xD i hope i've helped.

What is 6 kg 650g to the nearest 1/2kg
zysi [14]
Given:
6kg 650g
1/2 kg

1/2 kg is equal to 500 grams

1 kg = 1000 grams

We need to convert these figures from kg to g.

6 kg * 1000g/kg = 6*1000g = 6,000 g

6,000 g + 650 g = 6,650 g

6,650 g ÷ 500 g = 13.3 round off to 13

13 * 500 g = 6,500

6 kg 650 g is nearest to 6,500 g.

There are 28.35 grams in an ounce and 2.21 pounds in a kilogram. Miriam converted 7 kilograms to ounces, but her answer is not c
sergejj [24]

Answer: OPTION C.

Step-by-step explanation:

For this exercise it is important to remember the following:

1\ kilogram=1,000\ grams

Knowing this and based on the information provided in the exercise, you can make the conversion from kilograms to ounces. This is:

(7\ Kg)(\frac{1,000\ gr}{1\ Kg})(\frac{1\ oz}{28.35\ gr})=246.913\ oz

According to the exercise, Miriam's procedure was:

 (7\ Kg)(\frac{1,000\ gr}{1\ Kg})(\frac{28.35\ gr}{1\ oz})= 198,450\ oz

So you can identify that she made a mistake.

Notice that:

1. Miriaim multiplied correctly.

2. Butt the third fraction should be \frac{1\ oz}{28.35\ gr} and not \frac{28.35\ gr}{1\ oz}.
