Answer:

a) The probability tree is constructed below

b) the probability that at least two women will be selected is 0.500

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data in the question;

a) The probability tree is as follows;

                                                 3 men, 3 women

                                                            ↓

           _______________________|________________________

            ↓                             ↓                                  ↓                               ↓

         3 men                    2 men                          1 man                        0 men

      0 women                1 woman                     2 woman                   3 women

b) the probability that at least two women will be selected

p( at least two women would be selected) = P( there are 2 women out of 3 ) + P( there 3 women out of 3

so

p( at least two women would be selected) = C

³C₂ × ³C₁ / ⁶C₃ + ³C₃³C₀ / ⁶C₃

= 3!/(2!(3-2)!) × 3!/(1!(3-1)!)  / 6!/(3!(6-3)!) + 3!/(3!(3-3)!) × 3!/(0!(3-0)!) / 6!/3!(6-3)!)

= 3 × 3 / 20 + 1 ×  1 / 20

= 9/20 + 1/20

= 0.45 + 0.05

p( at least two women would be selected) = 0.500

Therefore, the probability that at least two women will be selected is 0.500

A nut mixture of peanuts and pecans at a small fair is $1.00 per pound of peanuts and $2.85 per pound of pecans. Over the entire
CaHeK987 [17]

Answer:

  B.  (12.0, 85.0) There were 12.0 pounds of peanuts and 85.0 pounds of pecans sold at the fair

Step-by-step explanation:

Subtract the first equation from the second:

  1.85n = 157.25

  n = 157.25/1.85 = 85 . . . . . divide by the coefficient of n

Only one answer choice has 85 pounds of pecans—the one shown above.

Marcello is constructing the perpendicular bisector of AB¯¯¯¯¯. He has already constructed arcs as shown.
Ratling [72]

Answer: "Use the straightedge to draw a line through points X and Y." is the right answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

To perpendicular bisector of line segment AB. There are following steps:

1) Draw arcs from points A and B on the both sides of AB.

2) Name the intersection points as X and Y.

3) Use the straightedge to draw a line through points X and Y.

4) Name the point as O

hence we have construct perpendicular bisector XY of AB which bisects at O.

statuscvo [17]

Let the number of sports drinks April bought be represented by = s

Let the pizza slices April bought be represented by = p

As she spent a total of $21.25 so equation becomes:

s+p=21.25

p+3+p=21.25

2p=18.25

p=9.125

As she bought 3 more sports drinks than pizza slices so, s = p+3
