As she spent a total of $21.25 so equation becomes:

s+p=21.25

p+3+p=21.25

As she bought 3 more sports drinks than pizza slices so, s = p+3

2.25 X + 1.25 X + 3.75 = 21.25 \\3.5 X = 21.25 -3.75\\3.5 X = 17.5\\X = \frac{17.5}{3.5} \\X = 5

Thus, the number of slices of pizza purchased is equal to 5
