Root cells don't have chloroplasts .Therefore they can't produce carbohydrates or sugars.

But root cells have other organelles to travel sugars to them .

They have phleom tissues like phloem parenchyma etc .

These tissues take sugar to root cells

Then by cellular respiration sugar breaks down and roots obtain energy

Sugars are transported to the roots from the leaves, in the phloem, and then respiration of these produce ATP which is used to drive their metabolic processes such as active uptake of minerals from the soil. Mitochondria helps the root cell get energy!.

breaking down glucose made in photosynthesis with the mitochondria. Explanation: Root's cannot undergo photosynthesis but sugar can be transported to the roots through the phloem

Goshia [24]

Answer:

A. the two genes on chromosome 1 are more than 50 mu apart.

Explanation:

Two or more genes present on the same chromosomes are the linked genes. Linked genes do not assort independently and do not exhibit crossing over. Therefore, the linkage of genes results in deviations from Mendel's law of independent assortment. However, if the linked genes are present far from each other on the same chromosome, they may exhibit crossing over.

The greater the distance between the linked genes, the higher are the chances of crossing over. Crossing over of linked genes would result in some of the progeny to have the new gene combinations as it occurs during an independent assortment of two genes. Therefore, Mendel observed an independent assortment of two genes present together on chromosome 1 since they were present far apart from each other (more than 50 mu apart).

Explain by a series of statements or steps how a tree trunk gets wider.
Alex73 [517]

Answer:

A tree will get wider by the secondary growth of the cells. This happens when the cell growth of the cambia or lateral meristems causes them to elongate and become primary tissue.

The site below gives a detailed description of secondary growth.

What could you do to determine whether the outliers in model 2 are authentic measurements?
Over [174]
To determine if a measurement is authentic, you can check whether the measurement makes sense in the context of whatever is being measured. If a measurement is physically impossible, then it is not authentic. If a measurement is inconsistent or far off from multiple repeated measurements of the same kind, then it is not likely to be authentic, so you could test the authenticity by repeating the measurements.
