Wilson has a balance of $890 on a credit card with an APR of 18.7%, compounded monthly. About how much will he save in interest

over the course of a year if he transfers his balance to a credit card with an APR of 12.5%, compounded monthly? (Assume that Wilson will make no payments or new purchases during the year, and ignore any possible late-payment fees.)

Answer:

He will save $ 63.61 ( approx ).

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, the credit card balance formula,

A=P(1+r)^t

Where,

P = Original balance

r = rate per period,

t = number of periods,

If P = $ 890,

Annual interest rate = 18.7% = 0.187 ⇒ monthly rate, r = \frac{0.187}{12}   ( ∵ 1 year = 12 months )

Number of years = 1 ⇒ months, t = 12,

Thus, the balance after  year,

A_1=890(1+\frac{0.187}{12})^{12}\approx \$1071.46

If Annual interest rate = 12.5% = 0.125 ⇒ monthly rate, r = \frac{0.125}{12}

The balance would be,

A_2=890(1+\frac{0.125}{12})^{12}\approx \$1007.85

Since,

A_1-A_2=1071.46-1007.85=\$ 63.61

Hence, he will save $ 63.61 ( approx ).

Josiah has a 20% experimental probability of hitting the snooze button any morning when his alarm goes off. When he hits the sno
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

6 times

Step-by-step explanation:

There are two events here:

1. Probability to hit snooze button= P(A) = 20%. Also mean P(A') = 80%

2. The probability to miss the bus= B

If Josiah hits the snooze button (A is happen), he misses the bus(B) 25% of the time. It mean P(B | A) = 25%

If Josiah doesn't hit the snooze button (A didn't happen), he won't miss the bus. It mean P (B | A') = 0%

If alarm woke Josiah 120 times , expected times that Josiah miss the bus will be:

P(B | A)* 120 * P(A) + P (B | A') * 120 * P(A') = 25%*20%*120 + 0% * 75%*120 = 6 times

Heron wants to buy a video game. The price is regularly priced at 55 dollars. The store has a discount of 20% off and a sales ta
nadezda [96]

The amount paid by Heron for the video game  is $46.64.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, the marked price of the video game  = $55

The discount percentage on the video game  = 20%

Calculating 20% of the $55, we get:

\frac{20}{100}  \times 55  = 11

So, the discount offered on the video game  = $11

Selling Price  = Marked Price  - Discount

                        =$55 - $11 = $44

Now,  the tax percentage on the video game  = 6%

Calculating 6% of the $44, we get:

\frac{6}{100}  \times 44  =2.64

So, the tax  on the video game  = $2.64

New Selling Price  = Selling Price  +  Tax

                        =$44 + $2.64  = $46.64

So, the amount paid by Heron for the video game  is $46.64.

Ariel weighed an object on her balance and recorded a mass of 24.3 grams.Her teacher told her that there was something wrong wit
grin007 [14]
For this case what we can do is the following rule of three:
 24.3 -----> 130%
 x ---------> 100%
 We clear the value of x:
 x = (100/130) * (24.3)
 x = 18.7 grams
 Answer:

the current mass of the object was:

x = 18.7 grams

A bowl of flower seeds contains 5 petunia seeds and 15 begonia seeds. Riley calculated the probability that a random selected se
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

Riley divided the number of petunia seeds by the number of begonia seeds, getting \frac {5}{15} = \frac {1}{3}. What you actually need to do to calculate the probability of selecting a petunia seed is divide the number of petunia seeds by the <em>total</em> number of seeds. 5 petunia seeds and 15 begonia seeds makes 20 total seeds, so you divide 5 petunia seeds by 20 total seeds to get \frac {5}{20} = \frac {1}{4}.
