Since the ratio is 1:8 that is a total of 9 parts.
Divide $117 by 9 to find the value of EACH part.
117/9 = 13
Sophia gets 1 part so she gets $13
If we needed the amount Isabella received we would multiply 13*8 = $104
Or 117 - 13 = $104
In $$ the ratio is $13:$104

$13 because Isabella will be awarded $104 making the ratio 1:8

A hospital bill is estimated to be $462.00. It ends up actually costing the patient $525.00. What is the percent error in the bi
Mamont248 [21]
In order to find the percent error, we need to first find the difference between what was expected and what is actually costed. We do this by subtracting:

525-462=63

So now we know that the expected amount was off by $63. To find the percent error, we need to take this $63, and divide it by the amount that was estimated. Let's do that now:

\frac{63}{462}=0.1364

However this is in decimal form. We need to multiply by 100 in order to get it in a percent:

0.1364*100=13.64%

Now we know that the percent error of the hospital bill estimate is 13.64%.

An electric guitar costs $830, with a $225 full-replacement warranty. If the manufacturer sells 532,475 warranties and has to ho
melomori [17]

If 532,475 warranties were given, it means that 532,475 warranties were sold. The gross profit should be, 532,475 * $830 = $441954250. But then, this would still be subtracted with 12% of the warranties since they gave it back to the customers. Hence,

Profit = $441954250 – 0.12(532,475)($225)

Profit = $427,577,425

A piece of string that is 132 inches long is cut into 3 pieces. The second piece of string is twice as long as the first piece.
gladu [14]
Your equation is like so A x 2 x 3 = 132
A is the length of your first string B is the length of your 2nd string (A x 2) and C (3) is the length of your 3rd string which is (A x 3).
A x 2 x 3 = 132
           /3     /3
A x 2 = 44
    /2     /2
A = 22.
A(22) x 2 x 3 = 132.  22 x 2 is 44.  44 is the length of line 2.  22 x 3 is 66, 66 is the length of line 3.  22 + 44 + 66 = 132.  66 is the length of your longest piece.

Change £6.60 into the ratio 5:6 and please answer this in a simple form as I'm not very smart
Morgarella [4.7K]
The amount that needs to be changed = 6.60 pounds
The ratio in which the given amount needs to be divided = 5:6
Let us assume the common ratio to be = x
Then
5x + 6x = 6.60
11x = 6.60
x = 6.60/11
   = 0.6
So
The ratio for dividing 6.60 in the ratio 5:6 will be = 5 * 0.6: 6 * 0.6
                                                                             = 3:3.6
This is the simplest way to to find the ratio of the amount 6.60 pounds. I hope you have understood the procedure.

Zohar is using scissors to cut a rectangle with a length of 5x – 2 and a width of 3x + 1 out of a larger piece of paper. The per
postnew [5]
This is the concept of algebra, given that the length of the rectangle is 5x-2 and the width is 3x+1, the perimeter is 2(5x-2)+2(3x+1). To get the total distance Zohar needs to  cut with the scissors, we substitute the value of x=4 in the expression for perimeter. Hence we shall have:
2(5x-2)+2(3x+1)
=2(5*4-2)+2(3*4+1)
=2(20-2)+2(12+1)
=2(18)+2(13)
=36+26
=62 cm

The answer is 62 cm
