The amount that needs to be changed = 6.60 pounds
The ratio in which the given amount needs to be divided = 5:6
Let us assume the common ratio to be = x
Then
5x + 6x = 6.60
11x = 6.60
x = 6.60/11
   = 0.6
So
The ratio for dividing 6.60 in the ratio 5:6 will be = 5 * 0.6: 6 * 0.6
                                                                             = 3:3.6
This is the simplest way to to find the ratio of the amount 6.60 pounds. I hope you have understood the procedure.

-3^(-x)-6=-3^x+10<br><br>Solve the equation below for x by graphing plz
vitfil [10]
To graph it, just graph y=-3^{-x}-6 and y=-3^x+10 and see where they intersect

I would like to solve it by using math and not graphing
if you don't want to see the math, just don't scroll down
the graphical meathod is above, first line, just read it

hmm
multiply both sides by -1
3^{-x}+6=3^x-10
multiply both sides by 3^x
3^0+6(3^x)=3^{2x}-10(3^x)
1+6(3^x)=3^{2x}-10(3^x)
minus 1 from both sides and minus 6(3^x) from both sides
0=3^{2x}-16(3^x)-1
use u subsitution
u=3^x
we can rewrite it as
0=u^2-16u-1
now factor
I mean use quadratic formula
for ax^2+bx+c=0 x=\frac{-b+/-\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}
so for 0=u^2-16u-1, a=1, b=-16, c=-1
u=\frac{-(-16)+/-\sqrt{(-16)^2-4(1)(-1)}{2(1)}
u=8+/-\sqrt{65}
remember that u=3^x so u>0
if we have u=8+√65, it's fine, but u=8-√65 is negative and not allowed
so therfor
u=8+\sqrt{65}=3^x
8+\sqrt{65}=3^x
if you take the log base 3 of both sides you get
log_3(8+\sqrt{65})=x
if you use ln then
ln(8+\sqrt{65})=xln(3)
then
\frac{ln(8+\sqrt{65})}{ln(3)}=x

Find where the slope of the curve is defined:<br> x^2y-xy^2=4
Natali [406]
You do the implcit differentation, then solve for y' and check where this is defined.
In your case: Differentiate implicitly: 2xy + x²y' - y² - x*2yy' = 0
Solve for y': y'(x²-2xy) +2xy - y² = 0
y' = (2xy-y²) / (x²-2xy)
Check where defined: y' is not defined if the denominator becomes zero, i.e.
x² - 2xy = 0 x(x - 2y) = 0
This has formal solutions x=0 and y=x/2. Now we check whether these values are possible for the initially given definition of y:
0^2*y - 0*y^2 =? 4 0 =? 4
This is impossible, hence the function is not defined for 0, and we can disregard this.
x^2*(x/2) - x(x/2)^2 =? 4 x^3/2 - x^3/4 = 4 x^3/4 = 4 x^3=16 x^3 = 16 x = cubicroot(16)
This is a possible value for y, so we have a point where y is defined, but not y'.
The solution to all of it is hence D - { cubicroot(16) }, where D is the domain of y (which nobody has asked for in this example :-).
(Actually, the check whether 0 is in D is superfluous: If you write as solution D - { 0, cubicroot(16) }, this is also correct - only it so happens that 0 is not in D, so the set difference cannot take it out of there ...).
If someone asks for that D, you have to solve the definition for y and find that domain - I don't know of any [general] way to find the domain without solving for the explicit function).

The phone company charges a flat rate of $25 per month. In addition they charge $0.05 for each minute of service Which equation
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer:

c= 25+0.05m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

The phone company charges a flat rate of $25 per month. In addition they charge $0.05 for each minute of service.

$25 is fixed here and charge $0.05 for each minute of service.

We need to find the equation that can be used to find the monthly charge based upon the number of minutes (m) of service each month.

c= 25+0.05m

Hence, this is the required equation.
