Let's find an expression for Jan's earnings in terms of normal wage, hourly wage, and overtime wage:
x= normal hours
y= OT hours
z = holiday hours
Jan earns 11/hour on normal time.
She earns 11 * 1.5 = 16.5/hour on OT
She earns 11 * 2 = 22/hour on holidays
The expression for her earnings is:
11x + 16.5y + 22z = earnings
Plugging in her hours (40 reg, 9 OT, 12 holiday):
11(40) + 16.5(9) + 22(12) = earnings
440 + 148.5 + 264 = earnings

earnings = 852.50

Given f(x) = x3 – 2x2 – x + 2, the roots of f(x) are
kolezko [41]
You have the following expression given in the problem:

f(x) = x³ – 2x² – x + 2

Therefore, to find the roots, you must apply the proccedure shown below:

1. You have:

0 = x3 – 2x2 – x + 2

2. Then, when you factor, you obtain:

(x-2)(x-1)(x+1)=0

3. Therefore, you have that the roots are the following:

x1=-1
x2=1
x3=2

To find the mean you must add up all the numbers you have together and then divide the buy the amount of numbers you added. When you add these numbers up you get 30, and we have 5 numbers here, when we divide 30 by 5 we get 6. So, Tara is correct in saying that the mean is 6.

28. $400 is divided between Kas, Jaspar and Jae so that Kas has twice
Inga [223]

Let's define our variables before anything else:

Kas = S

Jaspar = R

Jae = E

$400 is divided between Kas, Jaspar and Jae

This means S + R + E = 400

Kas has twice as much as Jaspar

This means that S = 2R

Jaspar has three times as much as Jae

This means that R = 3E

Because both of our smaller formulas have R, let's replace everything in the first formula with R

S + R + E = 400

plug in values

2R + R + R/3 = 400

multiply everything by 3 to get rid of the denominator

6R + 3R + R = 1200

add

10R = 1200

divide

R = 120

So Jaspar receives $120
