The correct answer is A. A destructive event

Explanation:

Hard sci-fi or hard science fiction is a sub-category of fiction whose main focus is to understand objectively and from a scientific perspective the world or events or it. This means science fiction works usually include fiction elements that follow scientific logic in contrast to fantasy which implies hard sci-fi relies on real scientific advancements and discoveries. Additionally, as the focus is science subjective perspectives such as feelings, opinions or personal judgments are not the main purpose in hard sci-fi.

Considering this, if the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was considered from hard science fiction perspective the focus would be the way the bomb worked, how it was created and the effects of it not in terms of feelings but in the number of lives lost, effects on the environment and others. Thus, from hard sci-fi, the bombing of Hiroshiman and Nagasaki is viewed just as a destructive event as it does not focus on the feelings or reactions but on the reality, and according to science, this event had multiple destructive effects.

“You been crying?” he said to Hazel.
ddd [48]

In Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, the interaction between George and Hazel develop Kurt Vonnegut’s social criticism as It shows how technology can dehumanize and desensitize people.

On their son's murder, George and Hazel's reactions are brief and Hazel due to her "low intelligence" hers is underwhelming. Due to George's handicap, he is unable to dwell on anything for so long. So, when he watches his son on television, by a loud sound in his head his recognition is blasted away. He went into the kitchen to get a can of beer after Harrison is shot. whereas, Hazel cries. she gets momentarily distressed about what happened. therefore, due to her "low" intelligence, she quickly forgets about what happened. and when inquired by her husband upon the reason of tear, she forgets stating “Something real sad on television.”

Hence, in such a Bergeron's society handicaps assure that no negative emotion distress them. Therefore, they feel a momentary pain upon Harrison is gunned down in front of them.
